So here it is, finally: how to use freestyle in bender. Probably one of the most requested tutorials here at metalix [his website, Bart]. It's actually really easy to use once you know how. Only like three buttons or something like that :D

Finally! My team will use it to produce anime results (we hope)

Does not work with hair particle, what ashame...
Glad I could help :D
regarding the hair particles you can convert to mesh and use it that way :)
Part two will be out soon on making your own styles with python :D

Hahaha! Hey, I watched this video yesterday, a full day before it showed up here on BlenderNation. After all these years, I finally beat BN to a video! ...Now what? LOL
Anyways, yeah, this video came just in the nick of time. I downloaded a Freestyle build and had no idea how to get it to render. Silly me, I didn't check that little checkbox in the Post Processing subpanel in the Render panel. Took me ages trying to find out why my renders weren't rendering. And then I didn't know which Control to use in the Freestyle panel, whether to use the Parameter Editor Mode or the Python Scripting Mode.
Thanks for the help, Alex!
yay :D
haha sounds like you were having the same problems I did :P
in cases like this, I find it helps to think like a child,
"Button mash until it works" :P
I think I pressed every button until I found that check-box :P lol
Glad I could help!
Nice to see a tutorial on freestyle, hopefully this will make it accessible to a wider audience.
It is a bit disheartening, though, that the author completely discards the parameter editor, as it is indeed both simple and quite powerful. I would hope that the author would take the time to ply with it a bit and then perhaps release a new tutorial. I am confident many confusions could be cleared up quickly, if not by any other means then by reading here:

and here:

nice tutorial
one day i'll have to get off my ass and make a comprehensive freestyle tutorial going over more of the parameter controls, modifiers, compositing layers, and animation capabilities
how about you practice your tutorial before recording? that was painful
