I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. lol! Thats halarious! :P

But no, the music would be a bit anoying, and I wouldn't want all the colors changing whilest I am working. But still...thats really funny! XD

  2. Dr Epilepsy is back! I freaked out when seeing the original one, but the new version is way more advanced.

And yes, why doesn't Maya have this? ;)

  3. This reminds me of the "default user settings" screen that had 256 tiny windows open at the same time in the UI. Filed under "Sure, it can be done, but geez!"

  4. The music is a good way to keep the attention of the users, but the theme changing...
Maybe a lot slower, like 1/min would be much better.

  5. Chill out! Bsimonds and Chaos.
Open source is the freedom to be as frivolous as it is fantastic. It doesn't matter if Blender is what you think it should be, it will be what it is. Personally I think playful imagination is the root of creativity.

  6. Made my eyes hurt, but put a smile on my face. (^_^)

    Why is that even funny?
it makes him and others that think its funny look like a bunch of assholes.

@bsimons49. Yeah, I think the same, but well, blendernation is like that.

Try looking in the mirror while saying that all serious like. If you feel a bit silly, then you're making progress. ^^

Thanks for wasting 4 seconds out of my day.

You're browsing the internet, i'm sure you've wasted a lot more time than 4 seconds today.
Lighten up and smile, the worlds not all death and destruction. ^^

  7. Ewok,

If you're using it on Blender 2.58, just comment out all lines regarding 'kmi' and the keymaps in the register() and unregister() functions near the bottom of the script by placing a # in front of them for a quick fix. ;)

  8. woah! that should totally become standard, I mean, it just looks amazing! I would be so much more productive with that going... ;) LOL!

    2:06 - SONIC SHIRT!

lol, "How come Maya doesn't do that?". --> Best. Comment. Ever. :D

  9. Bassam's face at 2:03!!!! Priceless!!
    Really good one!

Shame to see that some people don't have sense of humor at all.

Why so serious?? Really... WHY SO SERIOUSSSSSSSSS??!!!

  10. Well, it's pretty clear from all the comments that this is not production ready. The font size needs fixing, the cube color is still an issue, it is slo-o-ow (even on fast processors), I don't think it can handle 24-bit color, and it only seems to really affect felines at this point. Also, why isn't there transparency? And the audio is lacking bass notes. Just because it is open-source does not mean that it has to be lousy.

I think these people need to recognize the difference between an alpha and beta release. I, personally, do not intend to switch interfaces until these problems are resolved.

  11. this video to me, is a statement.
that work can still be done...and yet, set aside; to the fact that none of it is needed. nothing of it.
and yet why do we do it? ?

Blender can afford to take blunders because it simply wants to.
that to me is is true creation.
    Get on with it.
