2011 48 Hour Film Project – LIVE

10

From the project announcement:

For our fourth year in a row, Hand Turkey Studios is participating in the Richmond 48 Hour Film Project. Yes, yet again we’ll be producing 3D animation… because we’re crazy (and because we’ve proven that it can be done). Despite the incredible amount of work and even more incredible lack of sleep imparted upon our team, we keep coming back for more fun each year. It’s a ridiculous challenge, but it’s totally awesome to see how things come together in just a mere 2 days.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Crazy people :D The scenario sounds pretty awesome. Anyway, there is a movie with a similar idea, I think it's an episode of the Fringe show, where there is a paralyzed girl (vegetable) which used to be a ballerina and there's a dude, obsessed with her, that sort of puppet-masters her using a lot of levers, making her dance with strings attached and mechanisms.

Anyway, good luck and I'm really looking forward to the result! :D

  2. I've found (with the New Zealand version of the competition) that people never understand the dense amount of work that goes into making an animated entry. System of Five (my team) stopped doing them a couple of years ago because of this, so I'm really glad to see that you're putting forward a live feed to really show how tough it is!

Good luck! and you know I'm picking you as the winner! :D
