How to Create a Flamethrower

First off I would like to say this is awesome, and follow that up by me saying that I just showed that to a friend and he said, ” Yeah, I’ve seen that video before.” And then I said… No you haven’t, that was made in Blender. And he said, “THAT WAS MADE IN BLENDER!?!?!?! HOLY S!@T! WTF!”. Yeah so thanks for the tutorial, and the awesome video.

Tout d'abord je voudrais dire que c'est impressionnant, et suite à cela en me disant que je viens a montré que pour un ami et il m'a dit, "Ouais, j'ai vu que la vidéo avant." Et puis je l'ai dit … Non vous n'avez pas, qui a été faite dans Blender. Et il dit, "qui a été faite BLENDER !?!?!?! SAINT S! WTF @ T!!". Ouais donc merci pour le tutoriel, et la vidéo impressionnante. xnL
looking great. kinda wishing these tutorials would tip their hats to the immense hours of preparation required. this result looks especially tweaked and im sure required 2 hours of fiddling with different sizes and textures… &c. a mere mention ‘i spent a long time messing around or ‘i’ll use the settings i previously figured’ doesn’t really get across the frustration i OFTEN feel when messing around with something.
of course the best way to learn is to learn a bit and fiddle a lot :) so im not complaining.
belle apparence. un peu désireux ces tutoriels pointe serait leur chapeau à l'heure immense de préparation requis. ce résultat semble particulièrement tordu et Im sûr nécessaire de 2 heures de jongler avec différentes tailles et textures … & C. une simple mention «J'ai passé beaucoup de temps de déconner ou« Je vais utiliser les paramètres précédemment pensé i 'ne fonctionne pas vraiment dans la frustration lorsque j'ai souvent l'impression de déconner avec quelque chose. bien sûr la meilleure façon d'apprendre est d'apprendre un peu et jouer beaucoup:) si je ne suis pas se plaindre.

Effect looks fantastic but a bit unrealistic. Especially when you notice how long flame burns in midair.
Effet semble fantastique, mais un peu irréaliste. Surtout quand vous remarquez des brûlures pendant combien de temps la flamme dans les airs.
Just wanted to compliment Andrew Price on an excellent tutorial. The commentary was correct and easily understood, likewise the on-screen material. I went through it this morning and enjoyed the experience very much. And all the while I found myself thinking, “Wow! Blender is becoming so very fine!”

Great work but i think it misses some smoke. In my opinion, to be fully realistic, disappearing flames should turn into smoke
Excellent travail mais je pense qu'il manque un peu de fumée. À mon avis, pour être tout à fait réaliste, la disparition des flammes devrait se transformer en fumée

This video covers all necessary elements to recreate the fire effect. I think that Andrew tries to provide explanations *why* things work the way they do. While I do think that there are a couple areas which I thought could use more depth (gravity/mass, some texture settings, a bit more coherence on the light/container/emitter interaction), he really gives every Blender particle novice the tools and starting point to explore on their own. Well done tut!

Même si je pense que il ya des zones couple que je croyais pourrait utiliser plus de profondeur (gravité / masse, certains paramètres de texture, un peu plus de cohérence sur la lumière / conteneur interaction émetteur /), il donne vraiment tout novice particules Blender les outils et les point de départ pour explorer par eux-mêmes. I know! I did the tutorial, but it took 16 hours to render! Argg! I started it at 11pm and couldn’t use my computer the rest of the day! Why can’t blender have a pause render button?
Je sais! J'ai fait le tutoriel, mais il a fallu 16 heures pour rendre! Argg! Je l'ai commencé à 23 heures et ne pouvait pas utiliser mon ordinateur le reste de la journée! Pourquoi ne pas avoir un bouton mélangeur rendre pause?
Hey there Andrew. Great Tut. Still working through it. You probably already worked it out but at the bit where you wanted to set the lamp as a particle you named the particle and not the object to Firelamp and that’s why you couldn’t find it when looking for the lamp object. It’s called Point. :). Great tut as I’ve been wanting a detailed explaination as to what/why all the settings are set for etc. And you provided exactly what I was looking for.
