Dingto reports on the second day at the FMX conference in Stuttgart. Some highlights: Blender and Brecht were mentioned by the talk of Sony Imageworks, and Ton corrects a speaker of FBX when he suggests that FBX is Open Source. Way to go, Ton ;-)

Autodesk didnt know what Open Source is and Ton teached them a lesson... I wished i'd be there! :)
It's there any Documantaion from this?
I want one of those shirts like now .
A cadre of open-source heroes!
Does anyone else think Autodesk is the MAN? I sure do, they buy everybody up. Way to stick it to the man Ton!
All joking aside, I'm glad this came up & Ton interjected b/c true FBX support (both import & export) across all the 3D apps. would be very beneficial to the 3D community.
Agree! I would buy one of those now if they showed up in the e-shop.
*just checked, they are in the e-shop, €24.00. I’ll have to buy one, though I’m not a fan of the text on the back... your own 3d software... I’ve never seen that phrase anywhere else in the blender universe.
Just got latest build running on Ubuntu 11.04, cracking.....
When you compile blender sources under new Ubuntu, don't forget to install Python3.2 from the package manager, and more importantly
1) Python3.2 path is /usr
2) Python flags are "mu"
@Blenderboy All joking aside, yes I do think so XD
I was really impressed by the quality and organization of the whole event. I think everybody who just can should head out to FMX next year. Really superb seminars and atmosphere. Naturally the Blender booth was the place to be during the whole time. I think we gave out 800-900 DVD's? :)
Was it the first time of Blender to be here in Germany? Just wondering because the webstats show that Ger was amongst the top download locations of blender. FMX is great stuff though, I just recommend it :)
Olivier, Is it you in the right? :)
.fbx is a lot more open than .blend
