Blend Swap 3.0 Update

8

The popular Blender model library Blend Swap has just received an extensive overhaul.

Matthew Muldoon writes:

As of April 27, Blend Swap will be switched over to it's third version and this one is big. Jonathan Acosta of SavageCode has stripped the last version down to the studs and built it up from scratch. The first big thing you will notice is the layout has been completely redone. Offering more models per page. New Jquery header now featuring five featured models. Completely redesigned profile pages but tons more focus on the artist not just the models. New ways to sort through the models and just all around better navigation.

Under the hood we have supped this baby up. Just some of the main features are, Artist discovery, editable profile page, artist contact form, new and improved meta info about the models being shared, a ton of documentation about how the site works and for the responsible sharing Blend Swap User, they can now edit and update blends they have already uploaded to the site. This just names a few of the improvements to Blend Swap, there are tons of little things users will notice and not notice that makes the site far superior to what it was before. So if your a regular user to the site stop by and check out everything new, if you used the site once or twice say for the Sintel Modeling Sprint come on back and check out what we've been up to. With over 1,200 models, and over a 1,000 users your bound to find something useful.

Again I would like to that my developer Jonathan for all his hard work, our beta testers, and all our users. Without them Blend Swap would not be what it is today.

Thank you all,

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Que La Máquina(ria) de Blendswap ayude a posicionar a Blender aun más en el mercado!

  2. Sweet. this site really is an impressive creation :-) and perhaps one of the few of its kind to really work the way a site like this should :-)
