hi, yes, I used bake sound to fcurve and a driver in the sequencer transform strip :) (this i actually not possible in trunk, needs a fix but i got a quick 'n dirty patch from lukas toenne to be able to render the reel! thanks luke!) Most of the stuff, even the compositing work is Blender.
@Reece
It's like a "not-so-obvious" modifier for f-curves.
Just add for example a location-keyframe to the default cube at frame 1.
Then go to the graph-editor, and there hit the spacebar and search for "bake sound to f-curve".
A browser pops up where you can select any sound-file you want (e.g. MP3).
Et voilá!
Wow, man! You're the magician! I think it's very hard to do graphics and vfx and also dig-into some coding... It's impossible for me (now). What is your secret? How do you get time for all? Only one time I saw "tutorials for life" - from Andrew Price... Maybe you could make something like this :)
Please explain which part of this clip is made with Blender3D! Of course, having put here, anybody might assume that the whole thing is made with Blender. But I have my doubts... Please provide more details. Thank you.

Amazing. I'm curious as to how he managed to get the text to pulse with the music. Besides that awesome work.

Really impressive stuff, perhaps the end could be shorter though.

Very cool DR, the popcorn looked outstanding, nice compositing as well. Was all of it developed in blender? it wasnt mentioned anywhere.

Blender 2.56 includes a "Bake Sound to Curve" feature. Maybe that's how he did the text.

@hjmediastudios: Can you tell us where this "Bake Sound to Curve" feature is? I can't see it anywhere in Blender.

I would like to know what was done in Blender and what was other software used... Popcorn ROCKS! Very good job on the rest as well!

great! I was inspired with his previous reel long time. Even now it looks fantastic!

@Black Stage: The pulse is most probably setup manually, while it's not really rythmic and somehow random.
re: Bake Sound to F-Curve
see:
http://foreverblender.blogspot.com/2011/03/added-bake-sound-to-f-curve-operator.html
It says:
(Revision 35645)
Which I take to mean it isn't in official release.
Maybe a recent graphicall.org build?

The only way I found out to edit the curve was with the envelope modifier (graph-editor>n>modifier>envelope)

An awesome feature, even though I don't think it's been used in the reel ;)

About the sound driven animation, yes it was done with the Sound to FCurve operator driving transform strips in the sequencer :)
cheers!

We definitely need to see more of these sort of demo...
Your work is truly awesome.

"I’m curious as to how he managed to get the text to pulse with the music..."
He may have done it in After Effects. There's no indication he's used 3D specifically, or blender-only for that matter.
