There is finally a tutorial on how to use the new Ocean Sim tools developed by Matt Ebb on behalf of the SaveTheOceanSim.com project.
Todd writes:
"Well, it’s seems as though there has only been a few people able to figure out the entire process of using the new ocean sim tools along with the foam mask option. Obviously we need a basic “getting started” tutorial so that more people can start getting basic results in order to allow more people to experiment with this new toolset.
I’ve put together the basic steps to create an animated ocean mesh with the foam mask material texture added. This is not meant to show users how to create the most realistic material or wave settings, but just to give everyone a baseline or a starting point to using this great new tool."

i don't know if it's some surface-tension semi foam feature or if it's bright lighting or even wake scale, but the glare bits seem overblown. the feel and weight seems VERY well done however. and i guess the compositor could be used to dial back any blown out highlights.
well done :)
goed gedaan:)

@bohling
You need to keep your mouse above the time field box inside the modifier. Then press i.
Vervolgens drukt u op I.
Thanks guys! Hope to see more tests and demos from the lot of you!
@Dusty - nope this was not used in Civilization V trailer! : )
@HumanBlade - the foam texture is just the foam mask with a solid white texture, so there should be room for improvement there, I just wanted to help people get started working with the new Ocean Modifier and Ocean Texture, and this is just a simple demo for the tools.
@bohling - yes, all you need to do is keyframe the Time parameter, just as @Ertyui has described. I will be adding that instruction to the tutorial for more clarity.
Hope the tutorial is helpful and that more people can start trying out the tools. We need to make sure they are working well and stable enough for production use before we can think about submitting them for trunk inclusion. Cheers!
Bedankt jongens! Cheers!
