27 Inspiring Blender Animations That Will Make Your Jaw Drop

10

Andrew Price has collected 27 awesome Blender animations. Which one's your favorite?

Andrew writes:

I've been a part of the Blender community for about 8 years now and I've seen some amazing Blender animations. The problem is that after they are posted they usually slip off the front page of the forum and are quickly forgotten.

So today, in an effort to bring some much deserved attention to these forgotten artworks, I sat down and compiled a list of the 27 Most Inspiring Blender Animations.

  1. Really nice collection here. Great to see all of these again, and back to back. You know, a while back someone asked why there aren't more blender animations of characters talking to each other. Looking through this sample, I realize why he would ask. It seems to me that only BF has been able to provide fully animated characters discussing anything. And as we all know , you can't tell much of a story without 2 people in an environment interacting.

  2. @monica
i think that people here don't know what is the "normale", or waht is CNR

may be that would be useful another post here with the project explained, in wich you write some information about the use of blender (why maya too?), and the goal of a so important job

  3. anyway, this collection is very well made
i think that monica's work is something different, related to science and real world and not to wow factor

  4. There's no question that "Protein Expressions" is a great piece of work ... and, of an entirely different kind. That, to me, is really what's so terrific about Blender: since it is equally available to everyone, AND "of professional grade," we are seeing all kinds of "professional grade" material coming out because of it. These "27 inspiring animations," a worthy selection though they be, are only a scratch upon the surface.

Does it "matter" whether other tools were used (also)? I think not. "The state of the art" is ... "the art, itself."

  6. nice collection of works though, this is just my personal opinion, I would have thrown in some of Sago's work Man in Man been at the top of my list.

  7. Thank you Beorn, JohnJ and all.
Yes! PROTEIN EXPRESSIONS is certainly different from 'normal' 3D animation work. However, although we start from a strictly scientific point of view, and we have also scientific aims, we put great effort to the aesthetic side of what we do.
This is why we try to propose it also to a public without a specific biological background
For us it is equally important to address our colleagues in science as well as other viewers (+ our colleagues in CG!).
In presentations to the public, sometimes I invite people to watch the video as the first steps of an exploratory trip to a distant planet: we have just landed, and have been able to snap some views, even if we have no idea of what it is that we see. It may not even be life!: different principles clearly apply here, there's no color, no apparent gravity ...

    Enjoy!

For more information, our website has plenty of material, including scenes and the special branch of Blender developed for bio-work: BioBlender
    Thanks again,
    Monica
