In BlenderCookie's upcoming training video, Jonathan Williamson works with concept art from David Revoy in an in-depth modeling tutorial.
From the announcement:
Based on another excellent concept from David Revoy, this series is set out to provide an in-depth look at an intense modeling workflow of a Sci-Fi vehicle. The amount of detail we will be modeling is both intimidating and exciting! No tutorial on Blender Cookie has ever reached this amount of detail.
In this series we are taking an exclusive look at modeling only, thus we will be going for more in depth than usual.
Pre-ordering saves you %25: $24 instead of $32. CGCookie estimates that this series will be released toward the end of February 2011

Cool! I'm looking forward to it!
I have to admit this is one thing that Bender Tuts have been lacking. A good Sci-Fi tutorial. I am definitely buying this one
i will buy this after i get the gnomon tutorials cos they are ehem awesome :P to be honest i think cg cookies should bump up their prices, they are very good at what at they do they shouldn't make themselves too cheap
How much of this is Blender based, and how much of it is Photoshop / Gimp? It looks like it focuses more on the 2D stuff than 3D...
@traitor, Everything is Blender in the training series. The video that you see of the concept are is just showing some of David's process while designing the concept art and modeling sheet. The whole series is exclusively modeling the vehicle.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing this, definitely would like to preorder this one.
Good to see so many high quality tutorials popping up around the place these days. :)
jonathan.... you replied at 1:21AM...... srsly when do you sleep lol
@haris, how clearly not enough! In my defense though I believe the timezone is based on the server location. I think it was actually about 10pm my time... That could just be wishful thinking though!

Very interesting. Wish I could get it.
@traitor : the concept-art was done only using Alchemy, Mypaint and Gimp, and a bit of Blender on Linux-Mint. The video with Kdenlive. No Photoshop, 100% open-source ;)
david revoy cold be the next final fantasy concept artist, awesome work, jonathan cold be the story maker, g' team.
Hi,
I have 2 models from David Revoy and I'm stunned each time I stare at'em. A few minutes reenjoy me :) So nice, detailed while very streamlined.
For this one, the Gyrocopter, I was wondering if the model was actually used in any series or movie ?
It's great anyway and I only hope to find the courage to watch the making off thoroughly.
Thanks
