I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. matchbox crazyness ))

@Igor, there is a tutorial on BlenderGuru's site. Also I had seen another tutorial but can't remember where it was. It has the same idea.

  2. I suspect getting the depth of field to work was the trickiest part, as you can't calculate standard z-depth through alpha-channeled textures. (Or can you?)

  3. I was going to say (until I saw your software credits), that that image looks like it had been HDRd to h*** and back. But it created a really nice effect, nice one!

  4. Very nice effect. The best camera mapping effect I've seen with Blender. I could almost picture an animated figure walking down the street next to the cars. Would look great with some tiny rigged characters.

  5. A tutorial would be really nice cause i have always the same problem with modeling in the right perspective. How did he use this lines for the perspective info to match it all in Blender?

  6. Nice to see this feedback.
Tinny people was a thougth, but rig and animation are not my strong point. I have a little zancudo flying through the scene. But need to learn how to animate with drivers to change all z-buffer nodes at a time. Anyone knows a good tuto in 25 for this?

@Gosthdog: Not any tilt and shift here, only some fake DOF.

@Jarred: I think pablo's work is a lot more complex scene, but thanks for this!

@ Heyp, anon: hey, don't you like post-impresionism? I think hdr is another tool, and not only for realistic reproduction of light ;P

  7. @saurus1: thanksalot! i didn't see this but another one and the same thing:
drivers with nodes is not working for me (don't know if it should work or not)
    but drivers with objects works.

  8. @Carlos Padial
Well, it is beta software. I'll look into using drivers with nodes and if there are some problems with it, I'll report them.
