A Blender Thanksgiving: Sintel Pie!

23

Dmj725 surprised his family (and us!) with a Sintel Thanksgiving pie. Yum! (Click on the image for the large version).

I was making apple pies with my family for Thanksgiving, and the task of decorating the pie fell to me. (This surprised me since last year I forgot how to decorate the pie with a turkey and substituted a more familiar bird...Tux!) I was trying to think of what to put on the pie when I noticed my Sintel DVD on the counter, so I decided it would be fun to put that scene on the pie.

I took the dough leftover from the crust and began modelling, first the baby dragon, then Sintel, and finally the big dragon. An hour and a half later, I had this delicious scene ready! Some of our friends hadn't seen the movie yet, so it was a good opportunity to introduce them to Sintel. Take a look and enjoy!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. when will blender be able to put taste inside a mesh?
anyway it's not fair to let me see this masterpiece if i can't eat it! :-(
    good idea, though!

  2. Looks good enough to eat.

A couple of questions though. Is it released under Creative Commons? Where can I download the torrent? What about a tutorial?

  3. ^ XD

I bet those people who ate it thought that dragons wouldn't be so doughy, and such cannibals! ;-)

Nice creativity there, I would have taken ages to try and do something like that...
