About the Author

Bart Veldhuizen
I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Thank You Roel for your hard work!
and here's to hoping this fixes the thread view counter!
YAY UPGRADE!
Hopefully they add in a simple "check for replies" button. I'm so sick of having to do a search for my own name just to find my posts.
Reset everyone's post counts, woo!!!!
hmm, upgrade, huh? sounds good :D
well, big thanks for all your work, Roel! BlenderArtists.org FTW!
That's really necessary :D Great :)
Thank you, Roel Spruit!
As a bit of a programmer myself, all I've got to say is "Take your time, Roel! And thanks!"
Thanks a lot for this very useful website !! It rocks :)
In the mean time, who else has been astounded by how good the tutorials are on the Sintel DVD? I'm watching this one by Ben and it's a tutorial you won't come by often. A GIMP texturing tutorial, and a pro one at that!
I think I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! I'm lost at work without Blender Artists to get me through the shift.
Thanks for the site and bringing together an awesome community.
just a small update before I head to bed!
I'm upgrading the forum software as well as moving the entire site to a new fancy cloudserver. Unfortunately the forum upgrade was so big that I had to re-build all the HTML templates. I'm now putting the finishing touches on it as well as tweaking the design a bit and moving the last files over.
I hope to have the forum up again by tomorrow afternoon. It probably will have some glitches here and there (for instance, the design of the forum itself won't be finished) but the majority of the work will be done.
Greets!
Roel
I don't think I'm supposed to see your debugging information. With the information you have at http://www.blenderartists.org/forum with the debug info it'd be very easy to hack you, i mean REALLY easy. You need to fix that, quick.
@Roel - that sounds awesome! :D really curious to know what it'll look like...
WHAT I M GONA DOE WITHOUT MY BA FIX FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.....
Getting the shakes...
So *cold*...
Hands quiverring...
Mouth dry...
Can't sleep....
I NEED it.
I NEED it dammit!
BA, come back to me... I need you!
nooooo i luv using blenderartists for venting my anger or reveling in technological triumphs at the end of a long monday!!!!!
@Eric
Uh, no it wouldn't. In fact it doesn't make it any easier.
It would have been nice for some notice of this upgrade.... As a general courtesy
@A user There was an annoucement on the forum a few days before I believe.
You're an idiot if telling me what server version you run on, all your site's information, and your forum softwrae version, as well as any other software mentioned in that debug information. It's very valuable to a hacker.
Well, this explains why I wasn't able to login since yesterday. Thanks for your hard work Roel.
The information that "was" displayed is only showing structure layout and version information. This information can be easily accessed regardless of it being displayed and is displayed in certain areas of certain forum software.
Having a user account even displayed is generally the first level of issue "if" it is displayed in the debug information, Even then this will only allow so much help.. Common practice is to alter your standard forum information in which ever way.. Commonly IP allowed file access at a PHP and SS level along with many other features which are not visible in any sense.
BlenderArtist is down again,
It appears that your sessions are not closing, Hence they are leaving your sql connections open for to long...
Site is still down for me. Is it workign for anyone else?
