Interview with Campbell Barton

6

Andrew Price interviews Blender Developer Campbell Barton (ideasman42). Campbell currently works for the Blender Institute.

Andrew Price writes:

This week I thought it would be interesting to hear from one of the quiet achievers of the community: Campbell Barton.

In this interview I ask him some of the big questions that the community has been echoing of late. Such as:

  • When will the final stable version of 2.5 be released?
  • Is BMesh still being developed?
  • How long will you be sticking with Blender?
  • What was the hardest part about working on Sintel?
  • How was the Sintel renderfarm created?
  • How did you first learn Python?

  1. Awesome insight from one of the core developers. If you're only an artist working with blender it could be very informative. If you are a developer you recognize the issues adressed with maintaining such a project.

  2. I was there as a student during the Big Buck bunny projet,
And I had the privilege to be shown how to use the Curve to tree
script by the great Campbell himself
My time at blender institute will never be forgotten.
Long life to Blender his team and his strong community.

  3. Who the f*** is Andrew Price?
Is it possible to get a community of artists around blender and not fanatics or "look-at-me" people?

The blender Real-Tv thingy is really pissing me off.

    Narcissics...
