I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Ooo nice entries.
My vote goes to dakiru (Alex Memey) for the super realistic flowers. The attention to detail is astounding!

    Well done to all entrants.

  2. Done! My top three favorites (in no particular order) are:

    - Whiskers of Fury (nice humor there!)
    - The Moment Called Life (simply amazing with great attention to detail and realism)
    - Recess (a nice "destresser" image)

  3. don't forget that :

so please vote based on the following Criteria:

    1. How well does the entry portray the topic of "Stop Motion"
    2. Does the image tell an interesting story or make you smile
    3. Has the image been well executed[/quote]

  4. For me the best 2 are:

Tuuba The Beginning - just loved it, it got my vote

    and

mookie (Kamil Kuklo) Nighthawks - i loved the details like the match burnt on the floor

  5. Its definitely really hard to pick some winners from this bunch! there are so many that I'd love to have posters of.

I'd like to say thanks to all the entrants who participated, a lot of effort has clearly gone in to these across all skill levels!

I'll also quietly announce that the BWC will be finishing next year. Mainly because we've run out of laser engraved glasses, but also because all things need to evolve and move on. So I'm looking for topics, challenges, and something that will make next year truly special. All suggestions are welcome and can be sent to me at 'competitions @ BA.org' (blenderartists).

Beyond 2011, I don't know. But I'm certainly looking for the competition to be run by a larger group of passionate people under a different name, I think the Blender community needs something grander, and something truly owned by everyone. Of course I still wish to be involved, but in a different role!

Cheers, and good luck to everyone!
