These 3 tutorials are the final sequels of the previously posted Day 1-2 of smoke warm-ups from Gottfried Hofmann available at cg tuts+.

Gottfried Hofmann writes:

Hi everyone.

Maybe you remember the introduction to smoke and fire in Blender 2.5 that was postet here a while ago. Well, I used that one to create a series of tutorials with some tips on how to save some time when going to high resolution in the smoke sim. At the end you should be able to create something like this:

So here is the links to the tuts, hope they're helpfull:

  1. Hey, while I was downloading Blender 2.53 (which has problems for me, so I build from the source hosted on the Blender website), I noticed that there's a source tarball for 2.54 beta. There's also a folder in the /release/ folder for 2.54 beta, but it just says 'patience, patience' when you enter it.

I'm compiling official 2.54 beta for AMD64 Linux right now :)

  2. This kind of tutorials should be in PDF format not in video.

Video tutorials are heavy, slow to follow and silly to reread and OFTEN internet-only.

If a good guy has courage or has played this video can summarize the points in a written document, i/we will be 10x greatful! :)

    Nothing beats writing!

  3. @tynach : Would seem that on http://www.graphicall.org/builds/ there are some 2.54 branches being compiled for windows with tonnes and tonnes of add-ons and very much more beta features (aka they'll crash for sure in some cases).

I just grabbed the win32 build yesterday and will be playin with that today.
