Hi, I'm glad to let you know that there will be scheduled several Blender workshops for this fall, at Casa Orlandai, a culture equipment in Barcelona. Teacher is no other than myself and for first time in my courses we'll use more or less extensively 2.5 version of our favorite 3D application. In order to accomodate smoothly to the new rules of the game ;-).

Three different options:

  • A Edition: september 28 and 30, october 5, 7, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28 and november 2, from 19 to 21h. (82,80 €)
  • B Edition: november 30 and december 2, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 and 23, from 19 to 21h. (82,80 €)
  • Only for people aged between 12 and 29: november 5, 12, 19, 26 and december 3, from 16 to 20 h. (35 €)

All courses are specially suited for people aiming to begin with 3D, or for people with some background in another 3D and willing to start with Blender.

More info on this and about other courses (GIMP and TOR onion routing) as well on my blog,  in catalan language but automatic translation available.

Spread the word, please. Thanks!

  1. Hi,

Feureau, I've answered to you in my blog. Anyway, for other people who might ask the same issues, courses are taught in catalan language -which I encourage to learn if you are going to live or stay for some time in Barcelona, instead of only learning spanish-. Only saying this not to be arrogant, but to to add to the everknown "Barcelona-SpanishSpoken" couple a third element which is catalan language. Which is not of a minority, by the way

Usually in this announcements I read in between the lines people perhaps wondering about this so low fees for a such specialized courses ( ranging around 5 euros per hour ). In fact I must say that the facilities where the course is taught are more than correct and I consider myself a correct, if not good, teacher. So in this issue there are a couple of key issues to say:

    1. Usually this courses have a not small minimum of students (around 8 minimum and max of 12-14), so while this mininum helps to keep prices low for the student, it happens very often that is not reachen and the course cannot be taught without a significant deficit for the teacher's party.

    2. In the other side hand, you should mind that here in Spain people's accquisition ability is much lower than in other countries, and even more low in Barcelona because cost of the life. So while for us 80 euros is quite cheap for such courses, is not as cheaper than you could think.

Just to deep a little bit on non-blender related issues but important for the artist budget ;).
    Regards,
    Raimon

  2. Hi fbe,

Thanks for your interest. I firmly believe in catalan and spanish living together, so i firmly believe too in using both together (talking and hearing) in a perfect normality. Since I manage well both languages it's not a problem for me to speak on one or another, although I can't agree (sorry, is a matter of personal options) to an spanish olny oriented teaching (for my part): when I had one or more spanish talking only students, I used to do translations from catalan, about potencially conflicting/confusing/misleading terms, or even a few sentences in spanish.

My "mission" in this issue is to help people learn catalan doing real things like this Blender course, not avoiding this language as it didn't exist only for the sake that catalan speaking people is perfectly able to understand spanish too.

Hope you and others will understand my reasons, and in short: Will be courses taught in spanish? Mainly not. Can I take profit from the courses even when I only speak spanish? I think so, but the choice is yours, of course.

    thanks,
    Raimon
