This is a 5 part tutorial from Jimmyon with total length of 60 minutes teaching low polygon modeling for game meshes. He is using GIMP and Blender 2.49.

From the introduction of the video:

This tutorial is made with blender 2.49 but the technique im teaching you here is very easy to use in 2.5 as well, so don't turn off :)

Hello Blendernation,

i recently made my first real tutorial which has a total length of  60 minutes and covers all basic elements of low poly design.

Its optimized for Blender 2.49 but its not a 'Click that button'-Tutorial, its a tutorial teaching you a technique on how to proceed with low poly objects and the BGE.

It covers 8 important points of low poly design (3d-gamedesign)

  1. Basic modelling advices
  2. Modeling
  3. Unwrapping and UV-advices
  4. Baking AO-map
  5. Bringing it all into TheGIMP
  6. Texture Painting
  7. Normal Mapping
  8. Material Setup

I would say the difficulty of this tutorial is quite low, but you should have some experience and skills in blender aswell as a good memory so you dont forget what i say in that long tutorial.

If you are interested in the points shown above, start watching the tutorial now. ITS FREE :D

Greetings

Jimmyon

  1. Hi, I'm new to blender and I find this tutorial very educational, But I have a slight problem here. I tried making a cube to serve as the jumper, I unwrapped it and everything, but when I was about to bake the ambient occlusion. It said: "No Images found to Bake to". I have no idea what this means, and I'd be very grateful for any feedback on what I'm doing wrong.

When you unwrap your model in the uv image editor create a new image then save it. After you have done that click bake and you should be good to go.Don't forget to save the baked texture as this will not get saved along with the blend file. Hope this helps Happy Blendering.
