Human Rigging Tutorial with Blender 2.5

nawabz wrote us about a nice video tutorial by David Ward from BlenderCookie.com. The video started by adding the default human meta-rig template then adding basic IKs for the arm and leg and a fews constraints to the palm and fingers to make them form a perfect fist. The tutorial uses b-bone for nicely twisting forearms, spine and neck. Check out the video from his site.

    wy not includ on meta rig complete sim like this on blender?
    it could be interresting to exchange animation and create animation librairie.

  2. I never see anyone use meta rig with the generate from meta rig templates.

    it looks powerful. you scale the rig to fit the model. Hit the generate button and you end up with a model with ik fk switching as well as restrictions and a lot of cool stuff. I don't get how it sets up the vertex groups. seems really confusing though.

  3. I found that, when compiling the official 2.53 source myself, the stability of Blender went through the roof. Using the pre-compiled binaries, it would crash often while doing ordinary stuff (even re-loading the default settings sometimes caused a crash), but after compiling from source, I've not had a single crash.

  4. The tutorial is just another tutorial from BlenderCookie and it's been there for some time (which doesn't mean it isn't great, but why the special highlight?).
    @ Tynach: I had similar problems, e.g. with reloading the default scene (after a few reloads it would ALWAYS crash), but I've downloaded the latest optimized build from GraphicAll.org, and so far no problems.

  5. It's ok, but the real point of the metarig is to use Rigify to auto-generate the controls and constraints, which makes rigging super fast. Setting up all the constraints by hand is likely to get you a poorer rig, and take you ages too. Use Rigify, it's fantastic!

  6. i have problem on rigging, every time move the bones, the mesh for that bone keep moving backward. i dont know why this happens
