I recently updated my Demo Reel and am currently looking for an internship position before graduating from college. I thought I'd post it here, because about 90% of the content has been done in Blender, some of the starting scenes in the current render25 branch.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Hot Damn! I would hire this man in a second!
    Talk about complete work
Modeling / UV Mapping skills / Animation / a bit of rigging / editing
There is all in there... I loved your video. It's got really nice ideas implemented into it.

  2. Great demo reel. It seems your style is being oriented mainly to reproduce abstract things. Having this ability is a huge advantage, there are many animation work out there looking for simulations of bacterial and viruses ecosystems, cell metastasis, microscopic worlds, pollen particles, blood cells etc etc Dam you can do a lot.

    ------------Great Demo reel !

  3. Hi Alex.
As a student you have done a amazing work, and your demoreel shows enough that you can engage in a production.
You've got the skills and the talent. To complete the saga the only thing that remains is how you will perform working as teammate in bigger projects.
Keep in mind your humbleness and keep up the stunning work.
I've seen your shorts, and I found them inspiring and very creative.
I have no doubt that you can find not only a internship but a job really quick.
Congratulations and good luck with your career.

  4. I really like a lot of this work especially the abstract characters. I've been thinking about trying to come up with a blender animation focusing on a story but with a very similar approach to what it seems you've done. Of course you've taken it to a really high degree of polish that many of us can only gape at.

    very inspiring.

Fantastic Work, BUT I do have on question. What is the music you have playing in the background? I enjoyed it, and would like to find more from the same artist (if available)

  6. Stunning stuff, man... the first part is the best... the sand ravine and the skyscraper... great, great stuff. Other good stuff in there, too... wish I was as good and accomplished as you, man. :)
