Introduction to Blender at the Northwest Film Forum

Tony Mullen will be hosting a Blender introduction course in Seattle on Saturday & Sunday, Aug 14 & 15, 10am–3pm.

Hi Everybody,

I wanted to let people know that I'll be giving a weekend introduction to Blender at Seattle's Northwest Film Forum in August. The NWFF is the hub of Seattle's independent filmmaking community, and I think this will be a great way to introduce Blender to a new audience of filmmakers. In recent years the NWFF has been offering an increasing selection of workshops and training in digital technologies, but they've generally shied away from 3D animation and effects because the software has been prohibitively expensive for many indie filmmakers. I'm excited to be helping to change that!

Most regular readers of BN probably won't need an introductory Blender course, but If you're in Seattle and you know someone who would benefit from an intensive introduction to Blender, please tell them about it!

For whoever's interested to know, my plan will probably be to teach both 2.49 and 2.5 side by side, with students following along on whichever they prefer to work with. I actually taught this way at a similar workshop a few months ago in Tokyo and it went surprisingly

smoothly. If 2.5 is stable enough and working nicely on everybody's computers then I'll focus on that, with just enough 2.49 to enable people to get something out of existing tutorials and books.

Thanks for spreading the word!

Tony

Admission fee: $150/WigglyWorld members (whatever THAT means!), $180/general

  3. Hi,

    Thanks for the comments!

@Oscar, I do hope to make it to Seabug. I'll be in town at that time, so unless something unexpected comes up I should be able to attend. Hope to see you there!
