Blender Usergroup New York

8

Jeff Hipolito has started a Blender User Group in New York.

Jeff wrote:

I'd like to bring this to the attention of the Blender Community. I've started a Blender Meetup group via meetup.com for the NY tri-state area. We currently have about 44 members but are always looking for more to join.

Once I've created some content for tutorials and secured a space for the meetings, I'd like to start holding workshops. Please join us if you are in the NY area.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. User groups rock!
Now blender is on top of the empire state thats awesome :D
N.Y. is too far off for me but anyway best luck with the user group!

  2. This is very inspiring.

maybe I can create a blender member user in Nottingham?
    Anybody from Nottingham out there?

    Dear Ton,
Is there any policies around creating a blender user group?
is there any basic requirement for creating a blender user group?
Does the leaders in charge of the group have to be a blender certified trainer?

Blender could be just like capoeira! when user group can received prestigious
name in the blender community (to name just a few to my knowledge, Ton Roosendal, Colin Litster, Kernon Dillon, Andy Goralczyk .... ).

Blender is such a magnificent tool.

    Thanks for this post.

  3. Im from the depressing upstate. Its a little too far for me to drive as im guessing that these meetings will be held somewhere down close to NYC. Good luck tho.

  4. Hi Zanos,

You should join at the meetup web site regardless. That way, you can keep up with what's happening in the Blender community on the East Coast. I do plan to have regular meetings and workshops. The goal is for knowledge sharing, networking and colaboration on various projects. I want to build a strong community here on the east coast that can help elevate everyone's knowledge in Blender to a point that we can do professional looking works with it..... Hey Nesta.... look forward to working with you on these projects....
