Netherlands Film Fund supports Durian

The Blender Foundation have secured additional funding for the production of Durian in the form of a large grant of the Netherlands Film Fund. The impact is huge: “… This will allow us to extend the project with three months (end of june), cover up for much needed expenses (like voice actors, hardware, PR) and most likely even extra team members!..”. Congratulations guys! Now put down the champagne and get back to work!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Community Lead at n8n.

Great news. I’m especially happy that the team will have extra time, even though it also means that we’ll have to wait longer to see the result.

Out of the three of Time, money and resource it’s always good to have an increase in any one of them, must have been significant enough funding if it’s able to allow an extra team to come on board! :)
