Create content for Tirnua with Blender

tirnuaTirnua is a free, browser-based simulation game that is available online and via facebook. It looks a bit like Second Life (although I didn't sign up and try it, so I may be way off base here), and 'uses eco-friendly practices to build its ideal environment.'. They just published a Blender tutorial on creating game backgrounds.

Luc Barthelet wrote:

Tirnua is a free game, a simulation in a virtual world, and it uses Blender as
its unique 3D tool to create all of its 3D content.

Recently Tirnua started to enable custom content to let users modify the world. Since October the users can upload textures, and today, the developers released a tutorial for users to create and submit Blender files that can be used in the game.

Thank you to the blender community for a great product,

Luc Barthelet
CEO, Tirnua

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. The game screen is too cluttered. It was really hard to play. UI needs work. Another thing please don't publish to my Facebook wall without my knowledge.

Other applications continually asked permission before they publish on a users wall. This application does not.

Worse thing is. They published that I was flirting in the game when I was not logged in at all.

    Bad move guys.

  2. Ok, it uses Blender, but you get to pay to create content. Letting me create content for my own use for free would seem more in the spirit.

  3. The game is not quite ready for a flood of Blender creators, but it is getting there. By my wild guess, concurrent users are going up by about 10% per week now. Submitting content is a matter of contacting the developers personally right now, but if stuff is any good, it will get in.
