.Blend Magz - First Indonesian Blender Magazine!

8

blendmagzHiza Ro of Blender Indonesia has launched the first Indonesian Blender e-magazine, .Blend Magz! Check out the first issue here!

I had the privilege of asking Hiza Ro a few questions via Facebook. Here's the the results of our conversations:

BN: Awesome! So this is a Blender Magazine for Indonesia? Are you the leader? I may write a BlenderNation post about this. :) Would you mind me asking you some questions for the post?

Ro: Yes, this is first Blender magazine for Indonesia. I am really proud for your appreciation, and I'm ready for several questions. Thanks.

BN: Tell me a little about the .Blend Magz - why it was started, where it's going, and what it has to offer.

Ro: Actually the idea to make this magazine was there last year, when I was serious about opensource software. But this year it could be realized, after we finished blenderindonesia.org portal. The founder of this portal is really me, but it all come true from the help of forum members (we call them a Blender army.)

The magazine was originally just a compilation of artwork from members of the forum, but it now extends to everything associated with Blender and open source in Indonesia. We believe that Blender can be a tool to realize the idea and dream in animation - especially after seeing the very good project from the Blender Institute. We have a dream to create an open movie project. Once we all are ready, of course - maybe next year :)

BN: Are you the founder of the magazine? If not, who is?

Ro: Yes I am the founder - editor, rather. Its members are representatives of the teams in each province/city and all are members of the forum Blender Indonesia.

BN: I'm very impressed by the artwork in the magazine - but the text is all written in Indonesian. Is there an English translation planned?

Ro: Currently there is no team to translate it to English, but hopefully in the second edition we can start that. Because we want our work viewed and enjoyed by all the people, maybe two languages only: English and Indonesian.

BN: How often do you plan to publish new issues? Monthly, bi-monthly, annually?

Ro: Hmmm ... 2 months of this magazine published. While only version and a free e-book. If there are other interested parties, could be published in printed form. :)

BN: I don't know what else to ask, except: Where did all this awesomeness come from?! Your magazine is very welcome to Blender's world community!

Ro: Thanks for the support, and these are our results so far. Although there are still many who have not published here, we believe in time it will happen. We really love our culture and will explore it in animation format to all people. Bravo!

Regards,
HizaRo

The magazine is available in both PDF and a freeware-viewable version.

  1. I always wondered how many indonesian people did buy the indonesian translation of my "The Blender-Book". I did get a copy from No-Starch Press. It was called "Panduan Lengkap Menggunakan Blender".
