I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. A similar commercial (also by Randstad) was broadcasted in the Netherlands as well (already a few months ago). I've never been certain if Blender was shown in it, as the clip went too fast on tv to be certain and I can't find it online.

  2. The commercial with that dude was aired recently in The Netherlands actually, I remember seeing it. It might be slightly different, because I don't think Blender was so clearly visible, but I might not have seen it fully (commercials aren't exactly the thing I focus on, but it is cool Blender is shown).

  3. Blender will not become a real choice for companies until it won't be treated seriously by the biggest render engines developers (such as V-Ray, Maxwell and Mental Ray). OK, there is as far as I'm concerned one script for V-Ray exporting the whole Blender scene (which is really great), BUT it needs Maya and is supported by bdancer, a Blender fan. It's still not enough.

  4. I've just found today another Blender spotting here - not commercial tough. If someone still remembers Transport Tycoon game series, here's the Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD) - they are also planning to redo all the original graphics in 32bit involving also the community, and guess what program they are using :D

"OpenTTD has two major graphics sections, the 32bpp graphics development section for the future 32bpp OpenTTD release and the 8bpp graphics development section for the current OpenTTD graphics."

  5. @Mookie, wrong. But you are free to "believe" in anything you wish, ;)

Wrong - because I have worked with Carlsberg, Tuborg, Hugo Boss and many other well known world-wide brands with Blender in Full commercial production, completely without Maya or Max, from idea to actual finish production, but hey - you don't need me to convince you :o)

  6. JoOngle - you won't convince me this way; I work in one of the biggest 3d graphics company and I'm the only one there who uses Blender; our clients needs models with shaders for V-Ray and Mental Ray (in most cases), the need scenes for Cinema, Max or Lightwave; Blender works great mostly with non-commercial application that at least 90% of the companies don't use (and it won't change in the nearest future). Blender is great as a modelling tool that can be used at some stage of professional work. OK, I guess you say truth about all the "Full commercial production" you've made (although I cannot find any of them at your site), but I think it's more like an exception than a common fact.

  7. mookie, we've have to agree to disagree, I won't argue with you forever, I really don't care.
About the works on my site, it's 3-4 years since any images in there has been updated, as for the known brands, I was under an NDA, can't disclose them on that page, but if you're in Denmark, you shall be welcome for a beer or two, and we'll look at nice portfolios ;)

    Cheers.

  8. i like the blender sighting....
i don't like how a to me rather suspicious company is trying to bum of blenders sort of good- guy image for their purpose :(...
I wonder if they were giving a compensation for it's appearance...i understand that they wouldn't have to...
but it would be nice if they did.
