Durian Preproduction Week

8

TonOn the Durian blog a humorous and insightful video has been posted about the preproduction week with the team. There's even a surprise appearance by someone here at Blendernation ;)

From the blog:

Well, this week has been entirely dedicated to story and coming up with a final script, so it's taken me some time to wade through the footage from the preproduction week.

Finally had some time to churn it out today. A bit long, but check it out!

Keep an eye out for Ton's demonstration of some 'advanced blender institute technology'

  1. Great, can't wait to see a movie trailer :)

Also, on feature wishlist I really miss some rendering stuff, especially quick and animation-friendly lighting improvements (i.e. semi GI).

But I'm not the one that creates this wishlist, though... :)

    Good luck!

  2. Was that packaged durian being eaten?

I've never seen that, but eat the 'real' thing occassionally, and... though it's sweet... it's pungent!!!

If you haven't grown up with durian in your culture, it's best described as an 'aquired taste'!

My Malaysia mates refer to it as 'meaty', which describes the 'fleshiness' of the inner fruit quite well.

But for me the most amazing thing is the spikiness of the outer layer, which suits the anime style of this production perfectly.

I hope the team gets to eat the real things sometime - it will make a very funny video full of their reactions to the smell and even the taste of real durian - they are likely to run out of the room.

We often leave the fruit carcus outside because it smells so strongly.

But perhaps eating the real thing wouldn't be so unifying! ;-)

Cool video... so jealous of their experiences...!
