North East Tennessee: 12 Week Class & Blender Users Group

3

firstMtgI think Kingsport in North East Tennessee is seeing more Blender action than me! Byron Kindig announces a new training and the next Blender Users Group meeting.

Byron Kindig writes:

The next 12 Week Blender Class starts Tuesday September 8. For more information, see the links below this post.

Also our next Tri Cities Blender Users Group meeting will be Sunday September 13, 2009, 2 pm to 4 pm. We meet the second Sunday of each month in room 313 (third floor) of the Kingsport Renaissance Center.

This event [the user group meeting, Bart]is free to all. We have been meeting since February and have had a good turn out each month. Our last meeting was the all day Blender Mini Conference, where we had many guests including Sam Brubaker who showed his new Blender video on Local Warming, a spoof on public service announcements for men's health, and a Blender made music video by David Mysinger with a very interesting 2D layered style. Aaron Steele gave an excellent presentation on how to fake particles in the game engine. Matt Runion, our president, demonstrated the most recent build of 2.5 to give us all a taste of things to come. Sam Brubaker also gave an informative presentation on composition, and reported some of his experiences at Siggraph in New Orleans. There were also presentations on Topology and Video Compositing.

What was so great about the conference for me, was to see how everyone contributed to each others presentations. I think everyone learned something. Many thanks to all who made this day a success, and a special thanks to Blender Nation for keeping us all informed of what is going on in the Wide World of Blender, and the Kingsport Art Guild who give us the space to meet.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
