I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Gotta love the level of detail they had in those old times! door hinges, wood displacement maps(not normals! displacement!) and especially that high-poly sword, even the bulge in the middle was totally modeled in.

The texturing is also very nice, you can't see any seams in the UV mapping, and those dirt maps are amazing!

This was not a news post, but a reminder about the Durian blog, and aimed at those who didn't follow the blog; you know. What do you think was the main point of this article, the video or the fact that the Durian blog is updated and there are a lot of fantastic things to see there in the future?

  3. First i look at museum & thought that it is Russian museum with "резка по дереву" timber-cutting & ornament on wear but architecture differ. Street is so native, like at home. I guess why! The movie quality HQ! Naturally

  4. ...nice if you have this small little GPS Nav things....he he!
By the way: if you make next time a wrong turn on your way and you see a sign with the name Bonn or Cologne - gimme a call and i welcome you with a cup of coffee or something similar.
Thanks for sharing this and have fun!!!!
