  1. Can somebody tell me why there is a long article about sculpting, using not Blender but a commercial program called 3D-Coat?

    And if we must have such an article in a blneder related magazine, why doesn't the author tell us WHY he is using this program when Blender has sculpting tools as well?

  2. Most pipelines use multiple applications and not just a single comprehensive package. Maya users Zbrush all the time, stands to reason if a Blender users wanted to use another tool outside of Blender they can. Might be because Coat offers a stronger tool set when it comes to sculpting? I've never used it so I can't be sure. But when you look at artwork in 3D world or any online forum and the artist list the software they used. Rarely is it just Maya, Max, Cine, XSI, etc.... Theres no real reason to exclude this just because it excludes Blender from a portion of the workflow, its just a reflection of what a modern day production pipeline is. Using multiple software packages, taking advantage of their strengths...

    As for the 3d coat tool article, Andrew is right. A great many users use a variety of tools in their work flow. I am very comfortable publishing articles that describe that work flow, as long as Blender is in there somewhere. It gives ideas for technique as well as suggested work flows that may be of use to others.

    Also if you look back over the past issues, this is not the first article that describes work flow and techniques in another program used in conjunction with Blender.

  4. BlenderArt Magazine is amazing. We can't complain about the content because we make the content. I would like some tutorials so... I'm going to write some! Easy huh? Every issue is a phenomenal artpiece which I earnestly look forward to.

    Side note: There is a copy-pasted subheading in "Making of: The Labyrinth" which belongs in the previous article. These errors do happen with mild regularity in various issues of the magazine. I notice there is a number of proofers, though I'm wondering if they are all at the beginning of the pipeline (checking the initial submissions) and not enough at the end checking the final copy?
