I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Well, here goes nothing!

Edit: nice! I like the counter as well :) But could you make the counter (temporarily) stop @ editing time?

  2. @iluvblender: do you have javascript enabled in your browser? And which browser/OS do you use?

@xenon: I've always had that power. We're only a false democracy here %^)

@Nathan: yeah, I can't have you editing your own comments I'm afraid. (which browser/OS? Javascript enabled?)

@ijstaart: hmm no afraid not. While I try to look really cool by adding this feature to the site, it's really just a WordPress plugin and I don't want to start hacking that ;-)

  3. As well as a girl and a dragon, we can safely say that Brecht's first new super feature for 2.5 and the Durian project is -

    EDIT: whoops...

  4. I think everyone on blender nation and everyone else in the world has no brain.

Oooooooohhhhhhh NoooooooooOOO! It won't let me change that!!!!!!!.........oh maybe that's what this is......oh well.

  5. Apperently not.. that was a unlogical wish anyway, so nevermind.
Cool feature btw. I'll have to check it out later when I'm at my comp :-)

  6. Ben Dansie, you tease!

Can you guys at least give us a small hint of what's to come? Is it photon mapping with final gathering and brdf materials? :P

    A "make sexy" button?

Full integration between all the simulations?

    Updated fluid simulator?

Colored smoke in the 3d view?

    I'm out of ideas now.

  7. Cool feature! Thanks!

And nice interface for the edit.

@greenboy: Check firewall settings for the BN website. Make sure it's allowed in your cookies list both in the browser and your firewall (if it has one).

  8. This feature is not cool!

Shut up Becca it is too!

Wootz, now I can argue with myself!

    Edit numero 3!!!!

I'll be back in ten minutes......

Ten minutes later...... I have 2 minutes left! AAaaahhhhhhh!!!! This is outrageously fun.

  9. I don't like this feature. Every time there someone that posts against something cool inside Blendernation, now it's my turn.

    Edit:
I never said that! There isn't any proof!
This feature is very cool. I Hope it helps to avoid flamewars.

  10. lol. that took you guys a while. well. I usually don't have to edit my comments that often. :)

edit: this editing window is a bit weird compared to the comment box. :p
well. here you go I edited it and criticized the feature. ;)

  11. With 57 comments on this, I'd say the new feature is a hit so far.

Edit: 58 with this one...whoops. Guess they now need an auto-correct button to prevent knuckleheads (like this one) from making idiotic mistakes...

  12. Never say "feel free to post some crazy comments" to the BN crowd - things can get a little weird ;-)

    Edit: I can edit!!!

Edit: If you are still reading this, you have waaay too much time on your hands - or you are waiting for fluids to bake.

Edit: I ran out of things to say. (aren't you glad?)

  13. You made a fool out of me! I demand my money back XD

But seriously, I don't see an edit button... I'm logged in and everything.

Edit: Next day editing for those of us with accounts. WIN!!!

  14. Oh, and I'm on Firefox 3 on Ubuntu. And Chromium developer edition. I'll try Firefox 3.5...

Edit: This really does kill brain cells you know... Especially once you start editing previous posts out of order, confusing people trying to make sense of your edits.

Testing logged out. Chromium Developer Build, Ubuntu 9.04.

Edit1: Yes, it works when you're logged out.

Bart, you need to fix this!

Edit2: Also, allow people to delete posts. That would be useful too.

  16. There should be an automatic comment delete feature if all what it contains is anything of this (plus some special symbols):
    "first!"
    "Firzt Pozt…"
    "1st"
    or similar.

  17. nope, i'm last post.
    edit: as of 8/25/2009 @ 9:29PM GMT-6

also: I hate how the screen tints black, I hate how many sites do that for images and stuffs. it's only an annoyance and makes things take 5x longer to load.

  18. Test, test, test...

    [edit] Edit, edit, edit...

Wow it works :-). A very nice feature. No more excuse for wrong spellings.

  19. This message is for editing the previous one written in the top of the list :

The feature doesn't work for me : no Edit button. So I withdraw my thank you !o)

  20. Hi,

as far as I can tell, the problems are with registered users. The plugin's author is aware of it and suggested turning off the time limit for registered users. A quick check shows that it works correctly. Please re-test!

    Cheers,

    Bart

  21. Great feature! Thanks! ;)

Edit: Those comments are hilarious! I have immensely enjoyed reading all of them! Thanks ;) And editing works!

  22. testing, testing. . .
Works, but took 55 seconds. I'm down to 13 minutes and 28 seconds to complete my reply.
Perhaps everyone is testing at the same time?

  23. Testing again while logged in...

Edit1: It works! And I can edit my previous posts!

Edit2: Editing while at school. Second day of college too. Also...

    ALBATROSS!!!

  24. Alex Blank (Hey look, I can even chanhe the name field) on

    Does it work at home???

Edit: YES! even Opera 9.24 on a Windows 95 OS works (Finally, a site that invites Win95'ers to the party)...
