Hello, little JesterPrincess!

91

JesterPrincessBlender developer Nathan Letwory [JesterKing] became a father for the second time earlier today when his daughter Rafaëlla was born at 14:42 in Finland. Rafaëlla weighs 2820g and is 50,5cm tall. Both she and her mother are doing great.

We're happy to report that Rafaëlla looks significantly less grumpy than her big brother Rasmus [JesterPrince], who is reported to have developed a passion for human beat-boxing and (duh) Blender!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Another excelent build as always!

Hope she follow the fathers steps in Blender carrer, personally i find technicals and engeniers womens very
    sexy!

  2. Congrats Nathan!

Thanks for all your work on Blender even with the little one on the way. Blendiac of the Blender community salutes you, sir! Hugs to JesterQueen and the newer additions to the family. :)

  3. Thanks to all!

What I did was take two metaballs, filled them with some dna-code, then squished them together. To make things easier I converted that into a mesh, then did just a whole lot of sculpting. I got lost with the multires and subdiv levels, but I guess in 9 months it got pretty high.

The lazy modeller I am, I didn't do any retopo, nor normal/texture/AO-baking, you see the endresult in her full created glory. I used autoskeleton feature to do the rigging, and there was some autoanimation too. At least, after the 3d-printing everything just started working automagically!

jesterPrince is a lovely boy, I'm all excited to be now in for a second treat of growing babies! I'll be on paternity leave from Monday on, a whole whopping 3 weeks (I love you Finland!) Of course I'll be active as always, just doing more of that nappy-changing and feeding and all that again. w00t.

    /Nathan

  4. Congratulations, your plan to take over the world has been furthered by one minion.

I'm kinda remembered of the "you're blendering too much" blenderartists thread when you start explaining how she came to be.... Bet it's going to be a lot of fun the day they start asking about the flowers and the bees... and get an answer about a python going in a blender.

Besides the amount of moddeling I think you over-did the cuteness on this one.

  5. Congratulations!

The little princess look very cute, I'm thinking about the new realeses in respect with the anterior build ;).
You and your wife have developed a really nice render engine, 'cuz both of your creations are very good.

  6. Which render engine did you use? What is the meshes poly count? Where can I get the .blend? Yet another example of how Blender beats the competition! (yes, I know it's a real baby).

  7. Awesome modeling and skin shader, the SSS really raised it another level. Luckily there's Alt-B, or was she on another layer? No, that was a fractal script :-P Dude, congratulations! Sure will be a great kid with a fun dad!

  8. CONGRATS!!!! i dont see why people are so worried about the 2.5 release tho. u have a daughter now! enjoy it! dont waste time on trying to please other people, enjoy your family! :-)
