Hello All BlenderNation visitors,

This years Blender F1 Challenge Vote Form available for voting now! There are 101 entries this year! YES! I said 101! The support for this years Challenge is unbelievable. Thank you!

Go to the Blender F1 Challenge site and use the link at the top of the page to go to the Official Vote Form.

This year we ask that BlenderArtists members pick their favorite FIVE (5) entries. Please pick no more than five or your vote will not be counted. Voting is open until June 26 at 21:00 Pacific coast (Seattle) USA time (-8hrs GMT).

I have had been using a javascript in the past to help validate the form submissions -- mainly that the number of votes submitted is correct but I have not been able to get it to work properly in multiple browsers. I have abandoned the script and now I will rely on everyone to properly complete the form without any checks made when it submitted. This means your BlenderArtists.org name, email address and 5 selections. I ask for your cooperation in this matter to keep the results true.

Thanks to all and have fun voting!!!

Ciao for now!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Can someone combine the car of Fred in the Fintstones with the Renault of Fernando Alonso?

This year Hamilton is in a worse situation, but as I am spanish... Alonso is too much pilot for that car :D :D

  2. gustav göransson on

I'd love to vote, but I don't want to spend half-an-hour clicking those thumbnails, especially when you can't open them in new tabs in FF... A better gallery would be nicer (or just upload them to flickr or something...) I sure alot more people would vote then.

  3. PHP also exists ... on

Why did you use a javascript in the past to help validate the form submissions, weren't you able to use PHP?

Anyways, I haven't voted yet but it seems to be a cool challenge :)

  4. Really bad gallery. I'd like to be able to see images in tabs.

From the few I've seen (not much, annoying gallery) it looks like Zordan will win again.

  5. "but I have not been able to get it to work properly in multiple browsers"

Just send IE useragents to getfirefox.com

  6. wow, there where a lot but it really didn't take that long.
While clicking through them all I noted the ones I liked or that stood out, and saved them in a folder
That quickly narrowed it down to about 14.

Out of the final five I really liked and voted for, Zordan didn't make the list.

  7. +7 gustav - if you could actually click through the images instead of having to open each separately, it would be a lot easier. I had to force myself to do this. Though there were so many good entries!! Lots of scrolling (especially in the vote list, I had to use the browser search function a lot) just kills it somehow.
Anyway, the whhole thing is FREE and helps people get exposure - and probably is a lot of work for the F1 challenge guys, but as the thing grows, it might be worth reconsidering the design :)

  8. Whoah! Lay off on the design will ya? It is hard to believe that so much criticism could be generated over a free service being provided to the community. Thanks for doing it Curtis!

  9. All flying vehicles must not be considered F1 cars. Hovercraft vehicles are ok, but the others, with flying abilities can avoid traces or can't follow traces perfectly (they can cheat), so does not fit into car racing requirements.

Conclusion: Zoran have a great vehicle and scene (I like it alot) but does not fit into theme.

  10. Cacysunlee,
Thank you for the useful comment. I will look at this much closer. :)

    To All,
I definitely realize that the contest has outgrown the format. I really underestimated this years response. Big changes to the format are in the works for Blender F1 Challenge #10 primarily related to the gallery display. Unfortunately, I am more of a designer than programmer but I am learning. ;)

But please, don't let the format stop you from submitting a vote. This years Challengers deserve it! Pino's suggestion above about using the Voteform for viewing seems a workable alternative to the main gallery interface.
    I appreciate your patience.
    Ciao for now.
