I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Well explained also.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks! The result looks really great. :)
The bit, "... I don't know. I don't go out much...", made me chuckle. :'D

Finally!
Hey I don't remember submitting this! :P Thanks to whoever did.
Glad you guys liked the tutorial.
I'm currently working on a 'How to Make Stunning Trees' tutorial due for release in the next few days. Stay tuned!
Yes very nice!
But I need it more realistic! For me it looks still like a kind of fur!
The tutorial was awesome: I have tried the same approach, but I never thought of black ground and alphablending without any shadows.
Also watched the tire: i really like how these tutorials end with a really finished feel to them.
It's not like I put together a bunch of hairy boxes and lift them around: It ends with a polished product. That's great plus.
It's a very nice tutorial.
On a totally unrelated stuff, I wonder why this background makes me think of Windows XP...
Such is the power of image...
Very good, I made this image with the tutorial:
