BlenderNation Links: get your content in now!

afbeelding-2Testing of the BlenderNation Links system is going well and we'll be ready to go live in just a few more days. If you want YOUR tutorials/models/materials/... to be there when we launch, send a message to inbox(at)blendernation.com and include your BlenderNation login name (BN Links is a 'self-service' system so you'll have to take care of adding your own links). Thanks!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. The links system is already looking pretty good.
Suggestion: in the tutorials section an 'English' button would be nice, so you can restrict to the English language as well.

  2. Nathan Braswell on

You're right, it looks great! (Crouch gave me the idea of sneaking around :))

Not much stuff yet, which I understand, But can you include Ryan Dayle's BSoD Intro to Character Animation?

  3. There's three things about tutorials I'd like to see.

    o Language filter (already suggested).

o Community rating filter on whether the tutorial is outdated. I wonder what percentage will be outdated after the 2.5 release?

    o Community quality rating filter.

Blender is so successful, and there's so many tutorials, it seems like being able to filter using the above would be a good thing.

    No, I haven't been sneaking around. :)

  4. The language filter is already in place, and I just added 'English' as an option.

Each tutorial has a 'version' label attached to it, so the author can indicate up to which version this tutorial is useable. Community rating has already been implemented, but I'm worried about the website's performance. We'll have to go live without it, assess the server load and then enable this feature. If all goes well we should be moving to a more powerful server during the next few weeks, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I intend to go live tomorrow, so if you want your links included with the launch, sign up now!

  5. Perfect.

Now, if all the people in that 555 tutorials article would come here and list their tutorials, that'd be great. Here's the link, if you're interested. Not sure where I got it from. It might have been here.

It's difficult to use, for the reasons I mentioned.

Also, my skills aren't to the point where I feel like an 'authority' that can make tutorials, but in the future, maybe so...
