I just wanted to comment that after some months we have set up a Blender Conference here in Argentina mainly directed (but not at all limited) to spanish speaking users.

Along these years there has been a fast growing of Blender's popularity, in part thanks to our original Plumiferos Project, and Blender has been used by many artists along the country.

Many of them are well known by the community but many others remain working silently and we thought it was about time for everybody to meet and have a good time with their fellow "gaucho" blenderheads.

So we called it "Che! Blender 2009" in the hope we can repeat it next year and following, and it's been held at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, one of the most prestigious universities in Argentina (actually the oldest one) this May 29th and 30th. Both days are packed with workshops, lectures, short projections, talks and roundtables.

Among the artists and developers that will be present, there are:

Pablo Lizardo, Dalai Felinto (from Brazil), Daniel "Zanqdo" Salazar (from Costa Rica ), Martin Eschoyez (EpaAnimation), Diego Borghetti, Ivan Hoffmann , Manuel Perez, and myself (LicuadoraStudio and ex-Plumiferos), David Teres (Donky rig), Juan Pablo Bouza (Dwarf, Suzzane Awar winner, Zepam rig) and many others. Unfortunately Venom is already taken by Blender Institute but will probably be online for us as well :D

Anyway, I'll appreciate you could post about this in BN to be sure everyone in South America knows about this ! :)

Thanks and hope you can join us this year or the following !

Best regards

malefico.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  2. Claudio,
The link works now. Don't know why it was stubborn yesterday. Still considering, but the airfares are around $1000. Is there a cost for attending? Any suggestions as to where to stay?
    Have a great conference,
    Pam
