The Blender Foundation has announced a new training DVD called 'Venom's Lab!' by Yo Frankie! team member Pablo Vazquez.
From the website:
This DVD covers all aspects to create advanced computer graphics, including modeling, sculpting, shading, lighting, creating fur, cloth simulation, rendering and compositing. Its ten chapters are each devoted to exploring a specific technique. By using one of the famous VenomGFX characters you will be lead step by step through all important tools and settings.
I've always loved Pablo's crazy and wild visual style and I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

Wow, I've always been very curious how to make so nice looking characters like venom do.
Is it going to be using an open source licence?
Thank you very much! :D , I really appreciate it.
@ Nathan: Of course! just like all the other Open Movie Workshops as Creature Factory, Mancandy FAQ, or Learning Character Animation, this will follow the same license.
I'm releasing a bunch of my characters as Creative Commons, let's see what people do with them! :)
/me expects lotsa crazy animations!
Wow, I'll look at my pocket and maybe I can get a copy.
Felicitaciones Pablito!!!
Cheers
Sephiroth the Bimbo Master
The Intro is awesomely well done :)
I loved it!
genial...
voy a hacer todo lo posible por ser uno de los primeros en comprármelo :)
felicidades venom y para cuando el segundo :)
saludos...
Great teaser!
If only purchasing via money order or bank transfer from the Blender e-Shop was clearly feasible- I am opposed to online purchases and banking transactions for security reasons- I'd buy it up (and other goodies) right away! Does anyone know if this type of transaction is actually possible to do with the e-Shop?
I suppose I could write an email to the Foundation directly with this in mind...
Cheers!
Fabulous Teaser!
Can't wait to put the dvd to my blender workshop dvds collection! I can't wait to see the dvd and look over the shoulder of Pablo Vazquez.
But for now, Great Job VENOM!
How about shipping money? Is it included in price? To be precise - I am asking about shipping to Mexico.
Nezumi, that info is available in the FAQ:

Hehehehe.. Cool, Can you call the DVD " How to make everything with falloff"? It´s Venom Fault!!!!! Good my friend! Are you GOD?
Cuánto buen gusto que tenés chabooooooooooooon!!!!
(So much good taste that you have, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!!!!)
this is incredible news!
what exactly is the "painting" section of the third chapter? gimp?
thanks to all of you! I'm so glad about this reaction, gives me a lot of energy to keep on working on this.
@bob2: The Painting section refers to Projection Painting, as pointed out in the teaser. Projection Painting is a new addition to Blender 2.49.
Thanks to all once more, hope to not disappoint you!
gotta get it!!!
thanks for the lessons. i'm really looking forward to the hair tutorial and material nodes tutorial... nodes scare me =/
Amazing teaser. Go Pablo!
Looks promising! Keep up the great work! :)
Thats VERY interesting!
PLEASE INCLUDE A REAL ENGLISH TRANSLATION NOT JUST SUBTITLES!!!
You're my hero!!
Nice intro, I do agree! It made me smile from the very outset. It will be on my credit card bill at the end of the month!
when will it be released?
Yeah, it's difficult to follow what mentor is showing off if you have to read subtitles same time.
Anyway, it looks really good! Nice to have high quality DVD's for Blender :)
Ordered!
Great teaser, if I didn't know the work of Pablo already the vid would have convinced me of getting a copy anyways!
Thanks for the awesomeness! :)
wow shit! i could spend all day just watching the promo over and over again!
Well, after having cleared up (rereading the FAQ, etc) that bank transfers are *definitely* acceptable in the e-Shop, I can now go on to supporting the wonderful Blender Foundation and acquiring some awesome material in the process!
Really looking forward to this!
YES YES YES ...
and with Blender 2.5 you can put it in a trashcan!!
Thanks!!
@ timmi, the topics covered on this DVD were chosen for being fully 2.5 compatible :), that's why I'm skipping Rigging/Animation, because these are topics that really changed from 2.49 to 2.5x, the rest is going to be perfectly compatible.
I thought about this way before starting thinking about the DVD :)
that said, is 2.5 safe =)
@ all: thanks a bunch! this is really motivating :D
Congratulations Venom! What a talented guy!
Super AWESOME! :) Pablo, I knew you were involved with a DVD project, "Strawberry", but seeing this - yes! Awesome know-how to help turn my creations from one level to a higher level - thanks so much! :D Bring it on, man! Oh, and your style is awesome, too - not my style preference, but since you create it so well it helps me to appreciate it. :D
Looks great. I remember your "Bounce Into Space" making of and that was helpful. If I remember correctly it just was set to music, so I don't think the fact that the dvd is in another language would be a problem.
@ Jeff: that's a very nice compliment! :) I appreciate it.
Ordered!
Excited and looking forward to take my blender skills to advanced level after learning out of it.
Keep going Pablo great work!
@ kabhir: thank you! I hope you enjoy it :D
Hey venom , deberias de poner tu player en ese color morado tipico de venom ;D

fantastic work sir Venom... :D
It's really worth to buy your DVD...
Awesome!!!
What music was put on this video? It is awesome!
