New Training DVD: Venoms Lab!

43

The Blender Foundation has announced a new training DVD called 'Venom's Lab!' by Yo Frankie! team member Pablo Vazquez.

From the website:

This DVD covers all aspects to create advanced computer graphics, including modeling, sculpting, shading, lighting, creating fur, cloth simulation, rendering and compositing. Its ten chapters are each devoted to exploring a specific technique. By using one of the famous VenomGFX characters you will be lead step by step through all important tools and settings.

I've always loved Pablo's crazy and wild visual style and I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Thank you very much! :D , I really appreciate it.

@ Nathan: Of course! just like all the other Open Movie Workshops as Creature Factory, Mancandy FAQ, or Learning Character Animation, this will follow the same license.

I'm releasing a bunch of my characters as Creative Commons, let's see what people do with them! :)

    /me expects lotsa crazy animations!

  2. genial...
voy a hacer todo lo posible por ser uno de los primeros en comprármelo :)
felicidades venom y para cuando el segundo :)
    saludos...

  3. Great teaser!

If only purchasing via money order or bank transfer from the Blender e-Shop was clearly feasible- I am opposed to online purchases and banking transactions for security reasons- I'd buy it up (and other goodies) right away! Does anyone know if this type of transaction is actually possible to do with the e-Shop?

I suppose I could write an email to the Foundation directly with this in mind...

    Cheers!

  4. Fabulous Teaser!

Can't wait to put the dvd to my blender workshop dvds collection! I can't wait to see the dvd and look over the shoulder of Pablo Vazquez.

But for now, Great Job VENOM!

  5. How about shipping money? Is it included in price? To be precise - I am asking about shipping to Mexico.

  6. Lucidor - thx a lot man - I was never buying in here and honestly I didnt spent much time looking for info. Thx again - very helpfull ;)

  7. thanks to all of you! I'm so glad about this reaction, gives me a lot of energy to keep on working on this.

@bob2: The Painting section refers to Projection Painting, as pointed out in the teaser. Projection Painting is a new addition to Blender 2.49.

Thanks to all once more, hope to not disappoint you!

  8. invertedNormal on

    gotta get it!!!

thanks for the lessons. i'm really looking forward to the hair tutorial and material nodes tutorial... nodes scare me =/

  9. Nice intro, I do agree! It made me smile from the very outset. It will be on my credit card bill at the end of the month!

  10. Yeah, it's difficult to follow what mentor is showing off if you have to read subtitles same time.
Anyway, it looks really good! Nice to have high quality DVD's for Blender :)

  11. Ordered!

Great teaser, if I didn't know the work of Pablo already the vid would have convinced me of getting a copy anyways!

    Thanks for the awesomeness! :)

  12. Well, after having cleared up (rereading the FAQ, etc) that bank transfers are *definitely* acceptable in the e-Shop, I can now go on to supporting the wonderful Blender Foundation and acquiring some awesome material in the process!

    Really looking forward to this!

  13. @ timmi, the topics covered on this DVD were chosen for being fully 2.5 compatible :), that's why I'm skipping Rigging/Animation, because these are topics that really changed from 2.49 to 2.5x, the rest is going to be perfectly compatible.
I thought about this way before starting thinking about the DVD :)

that said, is 2.5 safe =)

@ all: thanks a bunch! this is really motivating :D

  14. Super AWESOME! :) Pablo, I knew you were involved with a DVD project, "Strawberry", but seeing this - yes! Awesome know-how to help turn my creations from one level to a higher level - thanks so much! :D Bring it on, man! Oh, and your style is awesome, too - not my style preference, but since you create it so well it helps me to appreciate it. :D

  15. Looks great. I remember your "Bounce Into Space" making of and that was helpful. If I remember correctly it just was set to music, so I don't think the fact that the dvd is in another language would be a problem.

  16. Ordered!

Excited and looking forward to take my blender skills to advanced level after learning out of it.

    Keep going Pablo great work!
