Blender Tutorials Contest

12

The Italian website Blender-Tutorial.com has organised a Blender tutorial writing contest. Prizes are a Western Digital 500GB Harddisk, a Canon A470 digital camera and a Microsoft Media Desktop keyboard+mouse. The deadline is 5 April 2009.

Dario Caffoni wrote:

Entries for the THIRD BLENDER TUTORIAL CONTEST are open. The contest is run by Blender-Tutorial. ALL ARTISTS fulfilling the requirements below can enter completely free. Winners of the contest will be awarded a PRIZE.

The topic of the new edition is "THE FUTURE". As the concept states, the topic is FREE and goes beyond any BINDING interpretation seeing the future as outer universe, space shuttles, extraterrestrial technology, futuristic architecture, and so on. This interpretation is not binding, but of course allowed. Participants to this edition are free to choose the interpretation they like the most, approaching it from any perspective, nuance, standpoint (political future, romantic future, their own future, etc.). THE FUTURE regarded from different perspectives ? a burst of optimism (for a brighter future) or an expression of pessimism (by depicting a negative future) .....TOTAL FREEDOM in fact. Explaining How and Why and communicating a message is up to the participant. This time all artists are urged not to focus only on the technical excellence of their work, but rather to highlight the insight and value of the MESSAGE they want to communicate to onlookers and members of the jury (also the message will be included in the judgement)? Take inspiration (but do not copy!) from what you like ? both from films or books ? and reinvent it. LET US BE IMPRESSED!!! In total freedom.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. OK, cool. This is neat, maybe I should enter? The prizes are not great, but it's good to have a contest and the "Future" theme is neat.

    Thanks!

  2. So create tutorials about space? sounds awesome.

even if you don't win; Try, you might discover your hidden talents for tutorials, and someday some noob is going to be grateful to you for your amazing insight and the skills you shared.

I might even try to make a tutorial...

  3. Radialronnie on

Ditto Anfeo, i read Dario Caffoni as saying that this website called "tutorials" is having an art contest.

  4. Indeed after reading the contest instructions it seems that this is an art contest, not about creating a tutorial. Website name fools for a sec there ;)

  5. I looked at Blender-Tutorial.com!
Nice page but why are there tutorials from Maya???
Are there not enough good tutorials for Blender?? I think so!!

  6. Well, if this is not a tutorial contest, then why don't we make a tutorial contest?

We need prizes[sponsors], I will make a vote system based on ip and e-mail address, so ..what do you say ?

ps: it's just a (stupid) idea..... mail me if you think is gonna be interesting.(I will think about the prize....)
