Blender Workshop in Vancouver, March 14

11

"The Univerisity of British Columbia Fisheries Centre is proud to host the 2nd Blender workshop in Vancouver. The first one took place in August of 2008 and was well received by the 24 attendents who spent the day learning about computer graphics and networking with other artists from GNWC-MDM and VFS."

We thought the first Blender workshop in Vancouver was fun and thought we'd do it again this year!

The Fisheries Centre is currently working with GNWC-MDM on a mini educational game using the Blender Game Engine. The workshop is meant to provide beginner and intermediate Blender users with a better understanding of how the software works. The venue also serves to provide a platform for local Blender users to meet each other and share ideas.

Fisheries Centre also has a summer internship position open on this game project and is looking for talents in the related fields.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. I wish I could be there. I hope you have a great turnout, and lots of fun! Hopefully there will be a report on how everything goes for the rest of us to read about it.

  2. Ooooh, sweet!

Just yesterday I was thinking again about the first workshop and how nice it was and right today they announce the next one. Perfect.

    Count me in again.

  3. This sounds great, I may try to go, money is tight and I know it is a pain to get across the border. Does anyone know if you can still cross with a birth certificate?

  4. Don't forget UBC Fisheries Centre has *several* summer internship positions open for this game project and is looking for artists, blender heads, and programmers. You don't have to attend the workshop to be considered, To apply, email me at [email protected]
