Art of Community

12

'Art of Community' is a new book currently being written by Jono Bacon. Its a book detailing the many areas of  communities which follow 'Every software project, online site, or company' and how to build a strong community. The book is relevant to Blender as Ton Roosendaal has recently contributed some interview content.

Jono Bacon is a crucial and very active member of the Linux Ubuntu community, being the founder of one of the UK's first Linux websites and current manager of the Ubuntu community. Having such a large and successful community, Blender a perfect candidate for reference in the book.

You can see the blog page about Ton's interview here.

The book 'Art of Community' will be published in mid 2009 and available in most book stores. It will also be released under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike Non-commercial license and therefore will be free to enjoy online. You can read more about it here.

  1. the community is probably the main reason blender continues to develop as well as it has. if Jahshaka had half of the community base that blender had they would still be in development.

  2. Wow, just the type of publicity I find amazing for the F/OSS community. I, like Banor, may just buy this book. If only there were an app like blender for classical music composition/publication that rivals finale in features and ease of use (not that Lilypond is bad).

    Thank you Jono

  3. *community is bigger than money and all the opensource and the internet make this world look different
*it's good to be able to make money and at the same time help people to do the same
