Old Key

Cestmir Peltan (Cestmir on BA) has just finished an interesting little animation. It nicely demonstrates the physics baking and fluid simulations Blender is capable of these days in a very professional looking animation.

The song is by The Mars Volta entitled "Eriatarka". There's a thread on Blenderartists.org which can be found here and the video is both on Vimeo and Youtube.

  1. Looks like some keys are floating on magnetic fields at the end, other than that a really nice animation.

(Not sure what the point is of limiting geographical availability on Youtube for a video like this.)

  2. Nicely done. One (slight, ever so slight) crit would be that the sun looked quite 'pink' in the pan up to it, not major but a nice short nonetheless. :D

  3. tomk: I got email from youtube its limited because of some song copyright issue.... Its not even half of the song used...
I noticed those "magnetic fields" today as well. too late:)

  4. Beautiful animation !!,although blender need to upgrade it particle systems effects like fire, clouds, ocean, and more.
again Cestmir Peltan prove even with limited tool in blender a creative idea can be archive.

  5. Got this on the YouTube link.

"This video is not available in your country."

Hahaha. The localization of globalization. Why is there a trend to localize things that don't have to be. Think DVDs and now YouTube.

  6. it looks great but the physics are not very accurate: there should be more dampening of the momentum to avoid the keys wobbling after they hit the wood. Maybe a higher weight could help too ?

  7. I have to laugh once again at youtube - I guess they're afraid people might actually find out about Mars Volta, a great band. I guess they don't want to sell anything...
