Fourth edition of Blender-Empire.ru magazine released

Vladimir Vychegjanin wrote:

What is interesting about it? First of all it has changed its layout. Now you can easily read it on your computer without zooming the page. I think it is much more convenient. Besides, there are a lot of things to learn: art gallery, interview, Python programming, and some surprises. Download it here.

Nasa Contest Follow Up

Sensei wrote:

Clicked on the Nasa Art Contest related link at the bottom of a post just to see if anything new was there. The last comment is by someone saying they tied for first in the high school division of the contest. It would be nice if Blendernation could follow up on that, seems like good publicity for Blender. The comment was made back in May, but still good news.

Chang Kai Shek College Blender Workshop

Reynante M. Martinez wrote:

Last November 29 I held a workshop for the students of Chang Kai Shek College in Manila, Philippines. I covered topics from the most basic (interface, 3D view manipulation, primitives, etc.) to some intermediate ones like character modelling, rigging, skinning, and character animation. It was so much fun conducting the workshop, not to mention the unfortunate events that happened when I got there. :-p Report here.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. the unity integration is truly awsome.
    there is no export needed.
It just reads the native blender files with animations and all.

  2. Hmmm, looking at the state of the open-source game engines, then the price of the A-list commercial engines, I'd say $1400 is a bit of a bargain actually.

  3. CorsairX, you're supposed to think that, not say it :) But hey, I guess that's the exciting thing, we have the ability to make it as good, and much much better.
