Alessandro Ardolino and Maurizio Cerrato have created Jump'N Ghost, "an arcade videogame developed for the PlayOn amusement machine and ported as demo to all the main computer platforms.". The game looks cute (check out their gallery) and there's a free playable demo available for most systems. Unfortunately Ogre3D seems to have issues with ATI videocards under OSX and I can't play it...

We (me as artist and a coder) have developed a game for an Italian amusement
machine in our free time off the University's job.We have used Blender for all the art stuff and Ogre3d as engine. The game is now out for the arcade machine and as a playable demo for Linux, OSX and Windows.
Please try it at www.jumpandghost.com.
We have used Blender as a level editor too, creating a custom exporter.
We've asked Alessandro to write an article about his development process and about his experience with the Blender-Ogre3D integration. Stay tuned!

The game looks cool. Very nice look.
I can't play it neither on my macbook (intel gma x3100) :( My mac sucks anaway lately (blender isn't running anymore and it's crashing all the time but that's a different story.)
This game looks like its going to be pretty fun. I'm downloading the demo now, so i haven't tried it yet. I'm anxious to read the development article. As a game art student I'm thinking of doing something like this once I graduate with some of my school friends. I would like to see their process.

ho :) its not the first commercial game made in blender :) http://www.waterstorm-game.com (bots are on the way) almost all graphic done in blender. our next project is an adventure game. graphic assets done with blender engine ogre3d :) hehe sorry for the selfadvertising but i think its the right place here.
Played the demo. It's.. well, it needs a lot of work. I use one spell on a ghost and I continue to fly upwards unchecked. If I miss the thing I have to exit the game as my character never stops flying and gets stuck on the ceiling. It's basically unplayable - I'm not even sure what the objective is supposed to be. Nice use of BGE, but the game is something I'd be pretty mad if I dropped a quarter on.
Err, I should say Blender - Ogre3D integration instead of BGE.
@mcreamsurfer I also have the GMA X3100, and it's terrible for me, too. blender.org specifically states on their download page that intel cards may experience graphical glitches. It's some kind of OpenGL incompatibility.

Have downloaded the Demofile for MSWindows AND the updates from MS as required on the
games'webside.
All I got was a splashscreen with the music playing endlessly and NO indication how to enter the game itself.
AFAIK the demo (the game?) ain't even beta, it seems to be in alpha phase of development :(....
Doesn't work on my ibook g4, ppc. Pity, it looks really cool.
@DramaKing
Yeah well, the thing is that there are some builds on graphicall.org which run on a macbook (Leopard) with »our graphics chipset«. The only problem is that since I updated to Blender 10.5.5 (Combo Update), no Blender is running anymore. Ton expected that this is somehow related to an apple driver or at least an OpenGL related issue. The thing is that it works fine (no crashes) under Ubuntu but without the GLSL for me and even other OpenGL progs like Sauerbraten (or whatever) run just fine. I don't understand anything…anymore.
I am now saving on a PC (just for 3D) because of this. I like my mac for certain things but not when it comes to blender.
Oh, sorry. Maybe this should be posted somewhere else.
I have a TOSHIBA Laptop!
played the game and it was fun , the top score I did was 1750 I think!
and I stop on level 2. the game is cool like the background art and the sound EF is good
but I think it need more tweak I did`t have fun after 2 mints
overall cool idea.
What means "made with Blender"? All parts made with Blender?
I have used Blender for a GBA game for THQ, all levels were made in Blender...
I would really like to play it, but I can't figure out how to get past the splash screen.
Hi,
I'm the coder of the game :)
wolfarm, The game is made for the coin op market so you need to insert coin (key 5) and press start (key 1) to play! It is also described in the README contained in the game package.
sorry for intel gma and ATI issue, but it seems to be an ogre related problem.
Great!!!!, runs fast on a cheap FX5200 Nvidia, It´quite adictive you now. are there any hidden bonuses/tricks?
Thanx Maurizio,
But this is NOT described in the README (I read that beforehand) but under CONTROLS !
And I have still NO idea to play the game, as I can move the wizard only to & fro and "cast a spell" to destroy the rightmost ghost but it appears again & again until the game is over.
You should REALLY include some hints how to play the demo as it is rather frustrating to find a demo with such a nice background and figures which does not allow to delve any further :(.....
Sadly, the game doesn't play as well as it looks.
just finished it! was fun.
game is so easy to figure out...
are you supposed to die forcibly when you reach level 5?
Alright, that's enough. I've played to level three on the demo and that is enough. :) Good job getting a game done, and marketing it as well!
Sorry, though, I don't like it enough to master it.
