While looking for an answer related to the game engine in Blender (I am working on a little platformer game where you control a toadstool mushroom,) I noticed a thumbnail on BlenderArtists to this amazing real-time model.
Gauss Tank by endi
Made in Blender, this model can be viewed in real-time but it still has great textures and lighting. If I were to make a game in Blender, I would definitely opt for this quality of graphics!
Great job, endi!

Cool :D I'd already be happy if I could do this in the renderer, but realtime? Wow :P
Whooah! How did he get those metal textures soooo realistic?
Awesome work.....
That's some sweet work! It has kind of a steampunk feel to it.
Nice modelling, shading and all in realtime? Man Blender has came a long way over the past couple of years!
Yarr! It reminds me of UFO: Terror from the deep game :)
great work
Looks fantastic, as always (not that I've seen them all) with Endis works!
Well. I wonder where the doors are. xD
In this game you're writing... does your mushroom run around eating fat Italian plumbers and stomping on turtles?
hehe made me think of mario bros too. great grphix all due to the new glsl?
Looks damn great!
Endi your work is truly awesome, I can't wait until you do a complete step by step tutorial on your work flow.
I like many struggle in the work flow area and how to make and apply all the maps and going from high to low poly,
for game use.
I'm not surprised. This has endi written all over it.
Yes! Praise God... I am very glad to have another article accepted. This is great. :D
@Admiral Potato: lol. No, not really. So far it's pretty simplistic. A world full of long, gray cubes and blue platforms that act as elevators (definitely not perfect yet...) Having trouble with the character having near-unstoppable velocity when he runs into walls, against slopes, etc. Makes it very hard to try to make a tight jump or jump onto slanted ground. When I try to go the opposite way after "bouncing" off of a wall (not intended,) I feel like I am running into the wind or pressing on a table - I don't hardly go anywhere. Finally if I let go, I have to let my velocity peter out once I land... sometimes this can be remedied, I think, but as an overall it's quite annoying. ;D Rigged the little mushroom dude, but then I had some crazy reactions in the physics because the toadstool was parented to the armature... ugh. Anyhow, I've saved-as and deleted the armature for now.
@ysvry: hah, yeah. :) (I'm glad I mentioned my little game...) :D
Any suggestions, ideas, clues, anything, would be of great help. Thanks. ;) (I know, I could post the question on BlenderArtists...)
You can find a post about my game here: http://minosafilms.wordpress.com/2008/10/17/mussheron-paddocstol-a-platformer-game-made-in-blender-work-in-progress/
God bless! Thanks so much,
Best wishes,

That tank is way cool! I must see what it looks like when it fires! (BIG glowy distortion thingy)
It's funny. I actually just found out about this on minosafilms. Also, thumbs-up to endi on this one. Very top-notch as usual.
It's amazing!
