Blender Conference Kingsport videos posted

18

Remember the Blender Conference in Kingsport last August? It took the organization a massive amount of work, but they have now published 11 videos of the sessions - over 7 hours of material in total!

Byron Kindig writes:

After many bumps in the road, we finally have the videos of the Tennessee Blender Conference up on our site.

Some of the videos have sound issues, others are fine. As it was our first time some of the questions from the audience were not audible on the video, but hopefully there will be enough good information for viewers to enjoy. Many thanks to all the presenters and especially to George Bowen from video taping all the presentations and to Matt Runion for figuring out how to get the large amount of video data up on the internet on VIDDLER.  Thanks to VIDDLER.

And thanks to YOU, guys!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Wha? No download option? That's why I came to this post, LOL! I'm quite literally too busy nowadays but I'd like to learn something on the go.

But thank you guys for taking the time to sort through all that video to make them available to us.

  2. Hi guys!
You can download the videos using a extension for firefox called "Download Helper"(The best) or using a program like "VideoTodo" (can download videos from different sites).

I'm downloading some videos now, with DownloadHelper ;)

    See you later.

  3. There should be a download link in viddler.com -- just below the video. I did not disable downloading. If you don't see it, let me know and I'll try to take another look. But you should be able to download right from viddler without loading any browser extensions.

  4. Thanks for the videos! Although a couple of them I couldn't understand what was happening because of technical issues, I enjoyed the other ones, and I learned things I didn't know before! Thanks especially to Claas!

  5. Hey!! I am the guy in the picture.. That's me, That's me. I am famous:D:D:D:D! HAHA. That just made my day:D! Anyways, check out my video Look up blender conference kingsport Trey Bowen

  6. @matt

hi matt, would it be possible to have direct download links for the videos? im having trouble with viddler, i only get white boxes.

  7. I will see what I can do about direct links. Viddler is supposed to have the "download video" option turned on. It is right below where the vide should be. At any rate, let me see what I can do...

  8. @Matt: I just tested this with the first video and the link is there - but only on viddler.com itself. Maybe you can add a direct link under each video so people can get there easily and download?

  9. OK, figured it out.....

There is a download link at the bottom of the video. When you click it, two other options show up beneath the download button. The options are "Flash" and "Original". It took me a long time to find those, but here is a shortcut for you guys:

    http://www.viddler.com/explore/mrunion/videos/11.flv
    http://www.viddler.com/explore/mrunion/videos/11.avi

These links download "video 11" -- the top one downloads the flash video, the bottom downloads the original. If you want a video besides #11 (you can see the video number by clicking the video you want and looking in the URL), replace the "11" in the above links with the one you want. For example:

    http://www.viddler.com/explore/mrunion/videos/6.flv
    http://www.viddler.com/explore/mrunion/videos/6.avi

    Sorry for the trouble, folks!

  10. Hey Trey Bowen!
I laugh so much watching your video! Probably because after 18 minutes there still no certitudes about the outcome, and that for the first 30 we can't see your screen.
But to be honest, and don't get me wrong, Blender is my favourite single piece of software ever, the funniest thing is to be reminded so bluntly what a tricky and complex program it is.
You are famous! I know you!
    Thank you!
