An exciting mix from "Artificial Intelligence Nodes module inside Blender for expert modeling, texturing, animating and rendering" to Advanced Blender tips and tricks with Bassam Kurdali, Andy Goralczyk, and others. It looks to be an exciting event this year.

  1. i also hope you to see video recordings, especially presentations by Bassam and Andy..
@LoMac, i haven't seen videos of the conference before, would you post a link them here?
    thanks

  2. Dammit. I'm a student with no cash...I wish I could come but hey...

Can someone explain what "licensing of Blender" means? (Sunday, october 26th, 15h00, Mansory meeting room)

  3. Hopefully I can goto the blender conference next year, when I have my amateur film finished, although my work will never be of the same standard as the blender artists that normally attend.

I love Blender, With it being free, all I had to do was purchase some books to get working. The free tutorials are brilliant and to be honest about it most are as good as the books and quite a few are even better. For less than 200 Euros I have potentially every blender book, compare that with even attempting to get a manual set for XSI, let alone the program.

Regarding licensing of Blender, please don't mess with that. As it is, a lot of people who can't normally do 3D work, are able to try there hand at Blender for free. Those people can use blender and find out if they have any potential. More people are sticking with it every day.

The people at Blender need to realise that a lot of people who could not normally afford to even think of going for 3D are now using there program. There skills are getting better. I expect over the next few years to see some very interesting work from blender artists, setting new benchmarks for all 3D people.

Blender being free is going to create and entire new generation of 3D artists who would not exist if Blender was not freely available.

In my present financial situation I could never have purchased a 3D program, but blender is actually giving me a chance to retrain for better employment. I could not ask for more of anyone.

I am looking forward to 2.48.

Keep up the good work and thanks to all the blender people.

  4. I hate when they teas me,"licensing of Blender"it mean to protect from being copy cat.it's ok blender it still free.they are planing to set up an independent studio were they can commercialize services using free open source programs and the profit will be use to continue developed new software from blender. Alot is coming for next year!

why I know this i bug Ton a lot. But,I can keep secrets.

  5. What I'd like is information about the conference in 2009...

For me to go to the conference next year I'm going to have to start planning the trip NOW. Who do I contact? I'm sure the venue and dates are already set, and that would be enough for me to start planning...

  6. Can someone PLEASE confirm that good quality video of each session will be made available on-line!? I would hate to think all that goodness would not be shared with the whole community.

  7. About the relicensing, as far as I know that is about making it possible to plug in closed source code, to let users create commercial games with the game player, or maybe plug in commercial render engines for example. It's not about making Blender itself closed source, it is just that the GPL imposes some restrictions in this area.

Harley, the dates and venue are not set for 2009. It's been Amsterdam somewhere at the end of October every time so it is very likely that will be the case again, but that I can't assure that.

  8. Thanks Brecht, but I really need an email contact that can tell me when they will know the exact place and dates for 2009. I can't just pop over from Canada with the short notice I normally see. I need to arrange an entire trip around it, get time off work, book flights and hotels, etc. I'd really need some firm information within the next two months or so.

  9. TimF: Yes, that is exactly the problem. There is no way I can plan a trip to Europe in October if I only get the dates in the summer, a few months before. Maybe when I was 20 and could just grab a standby plane ticket and then say in a hostel. Now I need to plan my vacation times well in advance,

BTW we already know the exact dates for SIGGRAPH in 2009: August 3-7 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. That's the kind of advance notice I like!

  10. "Artificial Intelligence Nodes module inside Blender for expert modeling" whats that a module that does the modeling for you even expertly? Is there a place I can read up on this?
