The BWC 2008 Overview

As the organizer of the BWC, I'd like to comment on the high quality of entries that were received this year, as well as the enthusiasm and effort that was put in across the community.

No matter how skillful the artist, it really showed that there's some great story telling ability, creativity, and determination out there.

For the top three: congratulations for your exceptional submissions.

For the rest of the pack who missed out, by closer margins than it's fair to mention, congratulations for creating such a fierce competition, and showing what the Blender community can really do. If you pushed your abilities to the limit and learnt something new, then you have done more than enough to be proud of your achievement.

If the level of competition in 2008 is this intense; I say bring on 2009, and hope to see you all there.

It was great fun competing alongside all these great artist and storytellers.
    Congratulations to all the winners.
as for me, maybe next time.

  2. Really tough competition this year. Congratulations guys you have deserved this places, great artworks. Keep it up!!! :)

  3. Congrats for the winners.

I wish i entered but i was too busy with other things.

Anybody who knows me knows i am not a whiner. But can i ask Ton and the team to bust their balls on getting more sponsors for next year? I'd really like all this to get even more competitive.

So competitive that amateurs would be scared to post silly comments on blender artist forums for good. <- that would be great.

    Have a great day ya'll.

  4. Awesome job everyone. Yeah lumpycow! I knew you'd make it man! I must say these three images are a good representation that the capabilities of Blender can be used for professional results.

    Congrats Zordan. Love your work.

  5. Kinduun,

More sponsorship is certainly on the cards, I rang a number of companies this year and spent a long time getting the $1600 worth of prizes we had this time around. If anyone has any contacts that would be interested in sponsoring the competition it would be appreciated. just ask them to contact me through the competitions email account at blenderartists.org.

Cheers again for everyone who entered the competition this year.

  6. Andrew had a big bear in his entry... I had a big bear in my un-submitted entry, too! I wish I were good enough to have at least met the deadline... Excellent work, folks!
