Big Buck Bunny, Apricot in 3D World Magazine

8

Issue 106 of 3D World is themed around free and open-source software. Editor Jim Thacker sent us a few opening spreads and as a bonus, he threw in the full article they published on Big Buck Bunny in issue 103. I love these guys ;-)

Jim writes:

Issue 106 of 3D World is themed around free and open-source software. As well as tutorials on using Blender 2.46's new fur tools, written by Big Buck Bunny art director Andy Goralczyk, and on texturing games assets in GIMP, the magazine includes a six-page article on developers creating commercial games with open-source tools, including a special case study on The Blender Institute and Project Apricot.

The issue also includes 25 tips for promoting your short film or VFX reel, masterclasses on illustration in DAZ Studio and animating a desktop pin art toy in Maya, and full copies of the Victoria 4 and Aiko 4 characters on the CD.

3D World issue 106 is currently in stores in Europe and the US, or you can buy a copy online (prices include international delivery).

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
