Well if you've been around Blender for a long time, you may recall "The Official Blender 2.0 book put together by Ton and Carsten Wartmann several years back. I know that I wore out that book, and I still have it. Now Carsten has announced that the first copy of his new Blender DVD Tutorial has arrived. Hopefully there will be an English version in the future.
The tutorial is in German and called "Blender - DVD-Seminar, 3D-Grafik und Animation mit freier Software", published by dpunkt.Verlag and mediabook Verlag.
It aims to the more advanced user of Blender or users changing from other applications.

nice resource!
When will we have it in English?
Hey, can some one make this neon effect, help me pls at: theblenderman21[AT]yahoo[dot]com
thx a lot :D
I'll consider this when it will get translated to english at least :-)
@Owen: that neon effect is also present in the creature factory dvd; one way to do it would be with an Emissive texture map and/or blender nodes editor.
I would certainly buy an English version.
Congrats wratmann
To the others, just try the german version english and german are quite similar if you forget the latin words :P
I don't understand the language~! Aww..
They should have put an English subtitles option on the DVD.
Even lame Babel Fish translated subtitles would have done.
So far there is no english version planned, however, this would be more easier than translating a book. So publishers are welcome to contact my german publisher d.punkt Verlag.
All the best,
Carsten
As far as I know (and I know it! ;-) ) Carsten did not only "put together" but wrote most of the book (together with Ton)...
Additionally Carsten wrote at least two more books: One is the well known and popular book "Das Blenderbuch" that is available in several languages, also in english (the blender book)!
Cheers,
Ingo
Way to go Carsten!
I have both those great books, and love them still. The Blender world was a great idea as a way to present the functional areas of Blender. I am currently negotiating a contract with Lynda to prepare a Blender Essentials DVD, so hopefully we will have something in English in the next few months. You guys and gals can help spark interest by visiting Lynda.com and searching for a Blender title. They track that and have FINALLY determined that maybe some good video tutorials are needed.
